When you log off, is your Avatar invisible, or does it stay in the same area in an imobile pose? Just wondering.

When you log off, you disappear.

Yes, when you log off your character is "removed" from the world. Which is good in my opinion... imagine all those million characters standing around all over the world :P.

Thats the answer I was hoping for. And you're right! It does make sense. With all of the people registered, it would look like a morgue out there. LOL

Logging off looks the same as someone teleporting out (the white poof). If you had bad sim lag, it may see you as logged in for a few minutes before it determines you are not there anymore, but I have not seen this last very long.

If an avatar falls in the woods, and there's no one there to hear it, does it still lag?

I have a somewhat similar question. There are times when it takes several seconds (seems more like minutes) to TP from one place to another or to log off. Are you still visible in the first location during that time or are you floating around in cyberspace till you appear at the new location?

Occasionally something will go wrong, such as when you crash, and the sim will fail to log you off, so your avatar will hang around for awhile. They are called ghosts. I have seen ghosts of avatars hang around as long as 30 minutes or so before finally disappearing.

I have seen someone crash in Sim A, thier ghost hang around, while they relog in Sim B, their home, and the ghost in Sim A stay around for a short time after they relogged and I spoke to them in IM. So they existed in two places at once for a short while.

When teleporting, I have never seen anyone disappear and then reappear back in the same spot when a teleport fails, so I believe that they do not usuallly disappear unless the system thinks the teleport is proceeding OK. I have seen people disappear and then find them selves stuck off world someplace, never reaching thier destination. They usually have to relog to get back on world.

Ghosts

Yes, ghosting happens all the time in sailing, seems to be when a boat lags when crossing sim lines. At bit annoying when you swerve to miss a boat that's not really there :) In case your wondering, ghosts do not appear in snapshots, I tried. and I've never seen a ghost of myself.

The Woods is filled with Panther Girls.. Lagging would be the least of your worries ;)

Being captured and tied up by a tribe of beautiful women.... Sounds horrible. ;)
