Hi again,
I apologize if this has been asked before but I have not been able to find it by searching the forums or Knowledge base.
Can you tell when you are being scanned (not sure if that is the correct term)? Or to ask it another way, if I'm using 'alt' to inspect an avatar and their various attachments, can that person tell if I'm doing that?
I'm sometimes curious but don't want to be rude.
Thanks,
Doug

No, not really. But you head does move and look in the direction you are looking, so someone might notice that you are looking at them. But most people don't pay that much attention.

I'm not sure if you're talking about zooming up to someone else and swirling your camera around them?
People won't generally know you're doing it, but there are a few indications:
* you're in a pose which doesn't have the head locked so your head turns in the general direction you're looking at * if you zoom back away your avie turns into the direction you were looking at * there are Debug options to see what people have their camera focused on (doesn't mean they're looking at that point, just that the camera is centered around that point)
If you're talking about the "Inspect" feature to see who made the prims in an attachment, you won't get any indication of that at all.

I have noticed when the white particle beam (or in one case black) was headed in one direction or another. More than once the particle beam was on me right before I got an inventory offer. That, of course, is if you actually "touch" them or examine them closer than staring at them.

I'll have to investigate that. I have seem some avatar radar HUD's for sale but wasn't exactly sure what they did. From: Kitty Barnett If you're talking about the "Inspect" feature to see who made the prims in an attachment, you won't get any indication of that at all. No, I shouldn't have used the term "inspect". That was poor choice of words. Thanks for the helpful answers, Doug

From: DrDoug Pennell Hmmm... I'll have to investigate that. I have seem some avatar radar HUD's for sale but wasn't exactly sure what they did. Client / Character / Show Look At If you Ctrl-Alt focus the camera you get a little pink cross, if you're alone in your house and spot one (that doesn't belong to yourself obviously), someone is "spying" on you (absence of one doesn't mean they're not due to the way the camera can spin).

From: DrDoug Pennell ... I have seem some avatar radar HUD's for sale but wasn't exactly sure what they did. ... Those avatar radars HUD's lists avatars within 96 meters of you. Some only list those within chat range (20 meters), and generally give an indication if they are walking, running, flying, afk, typing.

Show Look At

Do:
Client > Character > Show Look At
A pink cross indicates someone is alt+viewing.
if you do not have a Client Menu, press Ctrl+Alt+D to make it appear.

It's embarrassing when the person I'm zooming in on has Show Look At on. I'll go in for a closer look at someone's hair or something and they ask, "So, do I pass inspection?"
