I have looked and looked. I need to dismantle a group that I have contributed land to.
All members are in favor of this. I would like to dismantle and carry the land on my own. Can one of you pros tell me how to go about this? :) Thank you!

Set the land for sale to yourself only, for 0L. Then buy it!

Please, please, please, check it's set for sale only to you. Then check again before actually setting it for sale.

If you (the OP :)) contributed tier to the group, you may want to pull that out of the group before selling the land back to yourself, otherwise you'll tier up.

You'll get a warning if you try and pull the tier out, but it takes about 1-2 days before the land actually gets abandoned so as long as you sell it to yourself right away, you can ignore that :).

I'm not in-world right now so I can't check, but when you buy land from a group to which you've contributed tier, I believe there's an option to remove the contribution for the land you're buying.

- OP = Original Poster = You.
- All you have to do is set the land for sale to yourself. You don't have to 'pull the land out of the group.' Selling it will accomplish that.
- You SHOULD remove your tier donation before setting the land for sale. SL gives the group 72 hours to hold the land without having adequate tier to support it, but YOU will be tiered up if you take the land back from the group without revoking your tier donation first.
- Once deeded to the group, SL doesn't consider it YOUR land anymore. If all the land you purchased is deeded to a group, your tier is the only thing YOU own. By selling the land to yourself you are literally re-purchasing the same piece of land, even if you only do it for $0L.

P.S. I've heard that if you set land to $0L SL will REQUIRE you to select a purchaser for that land, versus setting a Linden amount. Many people have had land stolen out from under them by setting the land for sale for $1L but forgetting to set themselves as the recipient. People who habitually scan the land listings can and will port in and snatch that land before you have any idea what's happening.

Sorry :o. OP is short for "original poster", in this case meaning you :).

Tier and land are different things. You probably contributed both at the same time.

In the group options, you can check your tier contribution in the land tab (you can change it there as well). If you want to pull your tier out of the group, set it to 0 (you'll get a message saying that doing this will leave the group with a shortage), which will allocate it back to you.

If you don't have enough free tier available for the land you're buying (you can check at https://secondlife.com/account/landfees.php) then you will tier up when you buy the land.

And like Stephen said, make absolutely sure that you're restricting the sale to yourself and not everyone when you set it for sale or someone will be there in literally mere seconds to snatch it up.

Yep. You can also eject them one by one. Or better yet- send out a group notice telling them to quit the group and THEN eject them, the object being to see who can hit the button first.

Once the group gets down to 1 member it will be disbanded within a few days if no more people join. I've never tried quitting a group where I was the sole member. Dunno what exactly happens in that case.

Haha. :P

Actually I thought I'd heard there was a bug where you couldn't successfully quit a group if you were the last one in it, but it wasn't a big deal anyway because the group would eventually auto-disband once it got so small. I could be totally high, but that's why I couldn't, with confidence, say what would happen.

It's more "fun" than that :).

If you want to leave the group (as an owner) you can't because SL insists that you appoint a new owner to the group before leaving. What ends up happening is that you make someone else the owner in order to quit. Of course, that person will have to make someone else the new owner before they can quit and so on and on :p.

Whoever figures out last that the group is being disbanded is stuck with it and has to wait a week before it expires.

Just be careful that when you disolve the group, that you will have enough tier to carry the property and that you will not be forced to go up to the next tier level. Remember that group ownerships gives you a 10% bonus.

Another thing you could do to keep your 10% bonus, is get an alt, have it join the group and kick everyone else off. The alt is only so that you can keep the group going.

Good luck,

Pablo

I thought it took two premiums in a group before you get a 10% bonus though? Even if the second one doesn't actually contribute anything.

Not sure where I picked that up from :(.

You don't need two premiums in a group to receive the 10% bonus, at least you certainly didn't when I created my group after the launch of 1.12 with myself and a basic member.
