Buy more land. The only way to increase the available prim count is to have more land in the same sim. There are 117 prims available per 512 sq m, so for 400 prims you would need 2048 sq m.

Also for those who are new a word of warning the land have to be close enough to be connected.
Buying land in seprate locations if you want prims limits in one spot. I learned this hard way. For the experienced players this is would be consider obvious but for those of us who are new it isn't. In order to increase prims the lot has to be joined which can be tricky if you don't know how or forgot. Its in edit you need to drag the edges of property together and select join property. |

I just purchased additional not-adjacent land. Is there no way to use these prims?

Yes, you can so long as the plots of land are in the same sim.

This is totally incorrect. Lots don't have to be joined in order for the prim counts to be combined, nor do they have to be adjacent. They merely need to be in the same sim, as Alazarin stated. _____________________

I was then told incorrect. How in heck does new person even know where the sim ends and begins? I haven't even seen the information in the gude about this but perhaps I am missing something.
As new person there is so much to know and if a friend tells you something you often believe it to be true. For example I bought 3 lots in tenney and 2 lots in Dalama, I was told I could not merge them. They were in walking distance to each other. Are they two seprate sims or not? How can you join lot or lots that are 5 squares or more away if I am incorrect? Show me where it says I can do that then if I am incorrect or the person told me this was wrong? |

Hi yeah as long as they're in the SAME sim you can take advantage of the prims. To tell where the sim lines are just check the map. or you can just take a look at the land info too or walk onto the property and look in the top tool bar where it says what sim your in. tricky if your new I know I almost made that error too -) |

I saw 512m lot about 1 square away but I didn't know how to join it so I didn't buy it thinking there was no way to join it.
How do you know the line of sim is in different sim or how do you join lot that is 1 or more squares away or up to 20 squares away? You said the map what do you mean? |

The sim you are in on the map is brighter than the surrounding sim with clear lines, if you are in your home sim and fly around and don't leave that square on the map, you are in the same sim. Additionally, just watch as you fly on the land info bar above your head.. if the name changes, you've left your sim. _____________________

I saw a commercial for an above-ground pool. It was thirty seconds long. You know why? Because that's the maximum amount of time you can depict yourself having fun in an above-ground pool - M.H. You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later. - M.H. |

For example I bought 3 lots in tenney and 2 lots in Dalama, I was told I could not merge them. If they are not together, you can't join them, but you still get the prim allowances for the 3 lots in Tenney and 2 in Dalama. For example... 2 lots in Tenney are next to each other, you can join them together. The 3rd lot is on the other side of the sim. You cannot join them, but your 2 joined lots get the additional prims of the 3rd. Same with the 2 in Dalama. If they aren't next to each other, you can still build on one, and use the prims from others. In land tools under objects, there's two things to watch. Objects in sim and objects parcel supports. The parcel supports is what is there for size, the one directly above that is all your available prims for use on any parcel total for the sim. The obvious sign that they could not share prims is the name. You named two different sims. That's why all 5 can't be joined together. _____________________

thanks for replies. another question that will probably be a stupid question. Do items in inventory have prims. if I decide to sell a t-shirt in a shop does it take up prims?

Everything except textures and clothes are prims. If you sell a shirt, you have to put it in a prim and set that for sale. _____________________

You CAN join nonadjacent plots, provided that they are in the same Region/Sim. However, you need to set your graphics settings to a draw distance of 512 to do it as both plots have to be in-frame and fully rezzed. If your computer/graphics card can handle this, simply got to VIEW>Property Owners (makes it easier to identify which plots are yours) and start the JOIN process. I've done this on several different Sims, but it does help to be at an altitude of at least 100 meters and to have a graphics card that doesn't freeze up or lag too badly at higher draw distances.

I tried this a few month's ago and it gave me some sort of error about it being too far apart or something like that. Like I said, it was a few months ago, so I can't remember the exact error... When's the last time you did this? _____________________

Another option would be to rent land from a land baron (Azure Islands comes to mind) that offers 2x prims on certain parcels. This is accomplished by reserving a certain amount of island space for "public" access and redistributing the overall sim allowance of 15,000 to the rented parcels.
I am not making any editorial comment for or against, simply stating that this option occasionally exists. |
