Well Jes, ya just have to play around with it, make the face rounder, shorter neck, smaller eyes..mouth it all plays into how you look. I think it took me 6 months of fooling around with cinda, till she looked the way i wanted her to.
You can of course buy premade shapes..but then youll look like everyone that buys that particular shape. Half the fun of SL is individualizing yourself, go in apperances and see what all is there, and adjust, readjust, utill the YOU emerges, its so fun! ![]() |

Take a gander at this:
http://alaskametro.blogspot.com/2006/10/proportion-and-second-life-models.html It's about SL avatar proportions. You're in luck, she wrote it only a short while ago. Hope it helps. <3, rylee _____________________

I found skin textures to be a huge help. The majority of the detail on your avatar is going to be the skin you're wearing (the default Linden skins are vary plain, as you've seen) and buying a custom skin can go a long way toward improving your avatar's looks (that is if you have the L$ to spare).

avatar look

I agree that buying a skin is one of the best ways to make your avatar "look" more human and still retain individuality. I invested in a skin by a well known skin designer and I was glad that I did. I was so happy with the skin, I did by a model av but found it strange, it seemed alien, stepford like and my clothes seemed to fit differently. This is just my own personal taste. I tweaked my avatar's body for two months before I got the shape I was satisfied with. But, I felt like I had done something creative for once since I am not good at building, scripting, etc.
I still have to change my avatar's head periodically to fit whatever hair I might wear for the day. I really don't like having to do that since the save as and make outfit functions have been disabled. C. |

It also took me a long time to make my avatar look as I wanted. And yes, a good skin is a great help with it.
Currently I am happy with the way my avatar looks. So even that the only things that changes every now and then is the color of my hair (as it does in RL too). Morwen. |

After 6 months I still play around with my settings now and then. Skins do make a difference in how you look and a skin that looks great on one person just doesn't look right on another so always try a demo before you buy. I also find that hair changes my appearance. I have several different styles and colors and feel that I look really different as a blond than I do with the brunette that I usually wear.

I have to jump on the skin bandwagon. Totally changed the look of my avatar. Still, ya, there was a lot of character change via the ol' sliders that I hadda do to get what I wanted. Best to just play with 'em.
