Put aside the first section:
"Real-life images, avatar portrayals, and other depiction of sexual or lewd acts involving or appearing to involve children or minors;"

Look separately at the section:
"real-life images, avatar portrayals, and other depictions of sexual violence including rape, real-life images, avatar portrayals, and other depictions of extreme or graphic violence, and other broadly offensive content are never allowed or tolerated within Second Life."

BDSM, Sex-related RP of all kinds, Slavery, Yiffing, Porn, Combat killing, etc. are all openly available and well-known to be so. They have been "allowed or tolerated within Second Life" for a long time, and are still available after the latest blog posting.
If BDSM, Sex-related RP of all kinds, Slavery, Yiffing, Porn, Combat killing, etc. are no longer to be "allowed or tolerated within Second Life", why would LL need anyone to report it? All they have to do is log in, go through Search, and delete it all.

The thought occurs to me that LL have completely "lost it". They are maybe paralysed by fear and indecision.

Recently, they claim that new AR procedures allow them to react quickly to abuses reports as they can pattern match over a body of ARs. Advice in this forum and elsewhere is to make ARs effective by having a group of contacts/friends simultaneously report the same 'abuse'.

"Our team monitors such notification 24-hours a day, seven-days a week. Individuals and groups promoting or providing such content and activities will be swiftly met with a variety of sanctions, including termination of accounts, closure of groups, removal of content, and loss of land. It’s up to all of us to make sure Second Life remains a safe and welcoming haven of creativity and social vision."

Perhaps LL are afraid to deal with the 'Adult' situation. They want to pass the buck to A.N.Other.
Easy! When some threshold of ARs come in for a parcel, zap it! "It wasn't us. It was Our Community"!

Social vision?
Social nightmare!

Just another chip off the "Your World, Your Imagination" block.

Now it's to become "A Safe Place for Commerce"

.... boring....

Shame there's not the same response when people start harrassing other people, sending them abusive messages, start threatening to grief the hell out of places, rip people off, encroach on your land etc etc etc ...

Couldn't you have just posted your thoughts in one of the many other threads about the subject?

Yes I could have.
In which of the "many other threads" would a posting on the specific aspect best fit?

I opted to start a new thread that hopefully would continue to restrict itself to a sub-topic.
I opted not to post my thoughts into some arbitrary thread in which postings ranged randomly over a number of sub-topics.

"Couldn't you have just" ignored my posting?
You're upping the traffic rating of this thread - making it look more interesting than it might otherwise appear.
You are a camper sir! ;)

- and of course *sigh* both your post and my response are WAY off-thread.
*smooooooch!*

I think most SL users will fall into two general catagories, those who ignore offensive behavior and never report and the habitual reporter, who does an AR at the slightest offense.
