My favorite land broker was having a hard time of late with the land bot situation. At one time she was able to pay a lot of her family's bills with the profit she made from the time-consuming grind that can be the virtual land biz. But since LL is allowing bots to tax the system and get all the good deals, she had to figure out a solution on her own. And she found one. She put her efforts into other ventures in SL. She created lovely reasonably-priced items for sale. She bought some islands, did some amazing landscaping and offered plots for rent at great deals. She bought a roleplay area on the Mainland and put a lot of work and effort into it and doubled the traffic to the location. Her tireless creative efforts benefit everyone. Just like with her land listings, everything she offers is priced so you get what you pay for. In the case of things like her freebie store, you get a heck of a lot more. She looks at SL as her community, so she gives as much as she takes. She makes SL a better, more fun place. She had a choice: Either give in to her fears and complain and quit or get into action. She chose action. That is why she continues to be the person I look up to the most in SL. And the person I will use as my role model the next time I want to just complain about a situation here and not do something constructive to change it. Of course, I won't name names on this forum. But I will tell you her favorite color is purple.

That's great she was able to adapt. Sounds like a good business plan to have in SL. Diversify, diversify, diversify.

I have to admire your friend for her entrenurialship (spelling? ). However not everyone can do what she did and change directions. First, not everyone has multiply skills........not here nor in RL. Second, not everyone wants to devote the time and effort into a venture such as SL. And lastly not everyone (even if they want to) can devote the time and effort into a venture such as SL. I'm employed in RL. I have real life bills and commitments that I must meet. I have no desire to take on a "second job"..........mostly because I don't need to ( I make a pretty decent living in RL). And I don't have any desire, whatsoever, to "be my own boss" and own a business...........neither in RL or SL (much too much headaches and ulcers to deal with). In other words, I'm happy with my RL financial situation..........I pay for pretty much what I want and buy pretty much of what I need (and sometimes just want). So your friends adapttation to changing situations is, in fact, inspirational. But, what about us who just love to play the "game" and are willing to pay to enjoy it? I'm willing to pay for SL.........or I wouldn't be here. But, it gets harder and harder to enjoy with the changes requiring more and more of my time, effort and sometimes money. Most people who are in SL are like me more than they are like your friend. It's entertainment...........not an income source. So, we DO have a right to "complain" or "whine" (as you put it) when things get difficult. Second Life is not put up as a venture for business entrenpreneurs with agilitly to make adjustments to their plans to remain in business...........it'a put up as a virtual world where "your dreams can come true". My dreams of fun and enjoyment are taxed every update..............and the only way I can fix it is to gripe (complain and whine). And we all know where that leads to.

From: Raymond Figtree ...just complain about a situation here and not do something constructive to change it. I think that voicing complaints is important, too, as it's passing information along about how policies affect end users.

It's more a reminder to myself to keep the complaining to a minimum. Happily, the latest update has been working well for me so there is less to complain about. For the first time in months, I can get around the mainland with very little crashing/lag.
