I purchased a very nice skin that I am pleased with...however, somewhere along the line something happened and now from the neck to the waist and arms are solid black. The pack of skins I purchased included a variety of skins and I had some free ones as well, and changing the skin did not seem to correct the problem. I am logging on again tonite to see if a couple of days rest did anything, tho I think not, or maybe. I'm new so I don't know how things work quite yet in SL.

Any suggestions as to how I can get a "normal" flesh colored skin in its entirety back without a black torso??

Also, do people see me as 1/2 solid black or do they see me as flesh colored?? - Many thanks as usual for the abundance of good help and advice!

Its that Nagin guy, I KNEW IT lol
seriously I think this is texture related I had the same problem all of a sudden crop up in a favorite dress of mine. SOmetimes it can fix itself by putting on another skin then going back to the original. If all else fails contact the creator, they may have some advice.

There's also something in Edit/Preferences about avatar vertex rendering (or worded similar). You may want to try to toggle that and see what happens.

Last time I saw that happen it had to do with video card drivers. Do you have ATI or NVidia?

Turn down the detail sliders in Edit/Preferances until the problem goes away.

Thanks - I will try each solution...I have NVidia(sp?)

The other night, it did go away for about 2 seconds, then went black again. I'll see what happens next time with the good advice! Thanks! - MEG

It use to be ONLY Graphic card issues, but the client itself is causing "BLACKNESSS";) or black patches to occure.
