Question about object permissions/ownership

A talent for landscaping seems to be turning into a business. I've got two people who want to pay me to work on their yards. Here's what I'm not sure about: is it better/easier for me to buy the plants, which which are no copy and come 10-25 in a box, or for them to buy the plants?

If I buy them, planting will be easier because they'll be in my inventory, plus I can charge only for the ones I use. But then how do I turn ownership over to the client? Will I have to "sell" them each individual plant? (Ugh.)

If the clients buy them (and give me mod privileges on their objects) then the plants will be in *their* inventories, which would mean they would have to rez each plant for me to manipulate. (Ugh2.)

Perhaps all this can be handled by forming a group with the client? But ultimately, the client is the one who needs to end up owning what I have put on their land.

Hopefully I'm missing an easier option. Any help much appreciated!

If you use a group:

1) You must remember to have the group active when you rez plants from your inventory. You *will* forget, and the plants you create will not be editable of take-able by the customer, so you'll have to fix them.

2) You must remember to share each plant with the group by selecting that check box in edit mode.

3) Any member, i.e. any customer in the same group, has the same permissions on every other customer's plants.

4) When the customer "takes" an object into inventory the "next owner permissions" apply, so you'll have to remember to set those on all the plants.

5) If the property is not owned by the group, auto-return (or the customer cleaning up) may erase your work.

This assumes you have full perms on the plants you are buying. You didn't say if you did.

If you buy the copyable/non transfer plants then you can not ever 'give them over' to your clients. They will always belong to you.

Personally, I would go with the idea of having mod permission on their items.
Sure they will have to rez the plants first, but you can at least move them and they will still own them.

You may be able to duplicate them, so they only need rez you one 'master copy' of each, btw. But I do know that Khamon Fate's fantastic trees need every individual one rezzed seperately though, if you copy them then the scripts don't seem to work. But they are really wonderful trees - well worth the minor hassle of having your clients rez you a pile in advance.
