ive done that but all i get is a new account and have to start all over with no connection to my current account and no opportunity to pay the extra $9.95 which means that i need to put in new payment info for the new account. I thought there was a way you could run to avs from the same account.

Yup, same way as you signed up for your first account...there used to be an option to note that it was an additional account so they could charge you, but a Linden confirmed to me that alts are free at the moment.

It should be noted that LL considers alts 'independent,' so even if they have the same typist and payment information, they really don't share any benefits beyond what you might have with a trusted friend.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

alt account

Hello. I see no way to pay either, and I don't want my account suspended because i haven't paid the 9.95 for my account. I have searched and searched, and it is not clear anywhere how to pay this.

This seems to be a known problem.... I set up an alt to organise money from a work grant into an SL project and after over two weeks I haven't been charged an alt fee and the billing system still thinks it's 1 day old so I'm stuck with a $10 a month lindex limit.

Support ticket is "in progress".... but there are other threads here about this I think.... so I think we've just got to sit tight.

I'm not sure there's any fix planned for this, aside from updating the old info about charging for alts.

Alts are not connected to your account, period. They are entirely separate accounts. Their billing and trading limits won't start going up until they make their first billing transaction to LL, either by signing up for premium or buying some lindens on the Lindex.

Some people have been told by LL that there is a limit to how many accounts can be attached to the same payment method, or IP, or email... different Lindens give different answers. One thing that seems consistent is that they don't look kindly on one person running multiple free accounts. To be completely safe, make all your accounts premium, or all but one. If you sign up for a full year, that's only $6/month, and you get back about $4.50 of that in the weekly stipend of lindens. You also get a better level of support, which is nice.

Both my main and alts are annual premium. I have the same payment info for both. I created a group and deeded land from both so my little 1024 house is now tier free and I get two lots of stipend each week.

As I understand it, LL isn't offering any way to directly pay the $9.95 fee when you make an second or subsequent account. It has been mentioned before in the forums that if you go to Help Island and contact a Linden in-world, and ask them to help you to pay LL the $9.95 that they were too neglegent to collect for themselves, that the Linden can do something so you can pay them that money.

What I have settled for is I make sure all my alts have Payment Info Used. I go to this website, log in as them, and put a credit card on file, then buy L$200 so the account is "Payment Info Used". Then, if they ever complain later "You didn't pay for that account!" I can reply "You failed to give me any way to pay for it! My payment info is on file, and all you have to do is tell your own inept billing department to bother to bill me. Please do so.".

Wait... you are paying the annual rate for you AND your alt? Um... why?

Because they are both active and long term players. They are two equal entities and as explained above, by deeding to a group I have escaped monthly tier.

I've done the same for my main and alt; both are premium account holders. Couple of reasons why:

First off, the cost of a premium account is negligible since I paid the discounted annual fee and my stipend comes close to covering that cost.

If LL ever has to resort to allowing only Premium members to log in, my alt won't be stranded outside SL and unable to work on her business.

If my alt wants to buy land, she can do so immediately, and meanwhile she has 512m of tier to use as needed.

I have THREE accounts with annual premium membership. I like for them to be able to own their own land and receive their own stipends.

Even with the additional $40 tier I pay for one account, I don't find the price to be at all excessive considering how much I use SL. I'm just fortunate enough to have a decent RL job that allows me to make all my avs trust-fund babies. :D

To reiterate, I was told by one of the Lindens manning the Support Portal that alts are FREE for the time being.

You need to buy some Linden dollars before your billing date can be established. Once you do, your trading limits will start increasing.

:D

I have not .. repeat not .. married myself! ... even hobbits aren't *that* vain!

Hell, they haven't even met, unlike some other alts I've read of. They simply move in different circles :)
