Hi, I'm new to SL. Where are some funplaces to hang out. I've been to the top picks but thought they were kinda boring.

One has to wonder who picked the top picks...

Fun, that all depends how you define the word...

Think about what you are interested in. Look those things up in Search (when it is functioning. but that is another story), and go there, and talk to people you run into there. Also there was an earlier thread about cool places to visit you should hunt for in this forum.

There's an interregnum period between the time you finally learn enough to function in SL and the time you find out what your passions will be here. Sounds like you are in it. Hunt around. SL sets no goals or quests; you find your own. When you look.

Welcome. : )

The sim "Greenies" (I think?) was really cool.

That place was amazing, I just kept staring at everything. It defintely meant seeing the world from a different point of view!

There are many places to check out, when TP is working, and search.

The Shelter is a good newbie place to hang out and meet people.

Good luck!

Everytime I've logged in SL it seems like nobody is in any of the places. Is this normal? Also why don't ppl like flurries??

Flurries are hard to drive through.

As for friendly places, I always recommend the Caledon family of sims (usually friendly people around) and ROMA (how many people are there varies but when they're there, they're friendly).

Or for friendly nightclubs, try BubbleGum Music Factory and Tommy Gun.

There are lots of great spots listed here:

Another fun way to find places to visit is to look at pictures sent to snapzilla:

TP and Search work with the new viewer.

Try the reflections sims.... Midnight Reflections is my personal fave, of the '3'?

Some cool places visually:
Lost Gardens of Apollo
Svarga
Bliss Gardens
Caves of Rua - while there, be sure to find the sign with the map and teleport to the Deepspace part.
Caribbean Breezes

Cool places with lots of people:
Caribbean Breezes
Jade's Jazz Lounge
Phat Cats

I realize that those are 3 jazz lounges, but by their nature, jazz lounges have laid back people in a social mood that are normally open to conversation.

Also check out the Shelter. It's a great resource for new people. Lots of help available there, and there's always been a very social party going on when I've been there.

Check out greenies!

If you haven't seen it yet, take the time to go check out the greenies house. It may not be a place you would want to visit over and over again, but I think everyone should go once to check out.

Do a search for "greenies" and you will find it.

Join the group 'Things To Do'. They offer places to see and things to do that might interest you. They run their outings at1pm SL time, but alot of the places that they go to are accessible anytime. If you can actually go on the 'fieldtrip' with the group, that's even better.

Oh yeah, look for Jamboree, it's celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouting movement.

Greenies Home Rezzable

Lately, I've been all over the Japanese regions, as well as the still-clear bits of Corsica.

I would recommend Svarga, Livingtree, the Hobo village in Calleta, Prim hearts, EGO Terra, and Lake Gnoma - amongst many others.

I can't tell you where to go (Well, I could actually), but I'd definitely advise you to stay away from these forums. Run, NOW! I'll create a diversion.

Hi,

If you want to meet fun, relaxed, very friendly people, I'd suggest two western saloons: Silver Dollar and Janies. Even though I'm only a minor country music fan, I always have fun there, dressin' like a cowboy, hootin' and hollerin', and basically carrying on. Most anyone will speak with you.
