I have seen parcels that have pieces on either side of a Linden Road. How do you do that , I cannot seem to use the usual method of a connecting rectangle in the Land Edit tool?

What makes you think the parcels are joined?

There is proberbly an easier way, but when I want to divide up my land with 2 non touching pieces joined and seperated by a 3rd piece piece in between them, I join all of them and then divide out the bit in the middle.

This leaves the 2 end pieces joined even though they are not touching.

Of course that way wouldn't work if you dont own the bit in the middle so I dont know how its done with roads.

Joining parcels

And why would you want to join them - if the parcels are in the same sim and owned by the same person (or group) they share resources (prim allocation) across all parcels.

I have seen a "bridge" built over Linden land between 2 parcels owned by the same person - thats illegal (albeit rather clever to get constructed without getting it returned) and it has now gone.

If you click "about land" while standing on one parcel, and the one on the other side of the Linden Land lights up, they're joined.

You would want to join them if you wanted to sell them as one property, which can be useful.

Ekeinus, are you sure you can't get the usual way to work? Be sure no land is selected other than the two you want to join and the protected land, and you dont have to have the entire parcels highlighted, just a bit of each. I'm fairly sure this should work but will check for certain later, as I have land as you describe.

I'm guessing this is how the land came, and not something anybody did. That is, the road was created after the parcels.

Conversely, if one abuts land owned by Governor Linden which was once a road and now is blank, how does one get in the queue to buy it when it is finally made available?

I asked this question someone said there was away but it was highly technical and it required a really good computer and be up and able to view 100 meters or more. Also it needs to be in same region. I don't remember exactly what they said because it sounded very complex and I don't think my computer could handle it.
I asked about it about over week ago it should be somewhere here in forums.
Search in my post it should be there somewhere. I think. LOL

Tools bar seems "different"
01-19-2007 05:41
It was a combination of what I think is a bug and my not doing every single step slowly.

Before 1.13.2 Once you chose to edit land you were in select land mode automatically and could draw a rectange that touches each piece you want to join. Then you click join and it did it , popping up the confirmation dialog box saying that by joining you may need to rename etc...

NOW...
After you draw the rectangle and press join, The tool bar jumps out of Edit Land Mode. You have to bring that to the front and re-choose edit land . and hit join again to get the confirmation dialog box.

I am having a similar issue when building where the toolbox does not be have the same as it did, not to say I cant get used to it if its a feature. Just kind of trickiy since Im used to the way I learned it first.

My hunch is that it is a ....let's call it an "Unintended Feature"

I used to have two plots on either side of the Linden road in Kuula. All I did to join them was zoom up look down on the parcels from above and using the land selection tool dragged a box from one parcel, accross the road, to the other parcel and joined them. It ignored the unowned pice of land in the middle.

The problem with the land selection tool in the newest version is a bug, and I beleive is on the blog.
