Getting griefed with textures

I seem to remember hearing about this somewhere here but can't seem to find it. My partner has gotten griefed in-game by someone sending 50,000 textures to his avatar. He currently can't log-in because of it and can't get into his regular e-mail account due to the massive amount of e-mails this generated. All he gets from LL when he calls is being put on hold for so long he finally hangs up. Has this happened to anyone and how was it resolved? Any advise?

What does it say when your friend tries to log in? Do they get an error message or is the game so bogged down with inventory transfers it crashes? I would go through the emails. If their account is set up where all transfers or offline IM's go to their email, then that is evidence. Even if there are thousands of them, one of them should say something like "so and so sent you this texture". I would forward one of them to [email]support@secondlife.com[/email] along with an explanation of what is going on. Try to find the name of the avatar sending them to your friend by looking at the emails also. This would help if you get a hold of someone via telephone. Good luck.
P.S. If the texture spamming ever stops long enough for your friend to log in. Find out the name of the avatar spamming, look them up on search, and mute them. This would definitely qualify for an abuse report.

Some people have so much spare time on their hands, they actually believe other people find their ammusement antics are shared. When caught, they should be forced to do some sort of community service, pity they can't cut grass or something.

Contacting support email really doesn't do any good. I've never received a reply any time i emailed them in the past. It's best to keep calling them till you force them to answer. If you contact a linden in world, their just going to tell you to email support... So it's like a useless cycle.

There is also a script that can detect who is doing it. I'll let you know that information as soon as I get the name of it. |

Also, if he can log in at all, click the Busy button to quickly stifle the textures while sorting things out. In busy mode, all transfers are denied automatically.

Problem solved for now. Thanks to the Justice League!
He put the offending item on mute (don't ask me how lol) and deleted the ones that got through before he could do that. Or something like that. Thanks for all the suggestions!

You can always check the transaction history to show who's been giving you stuff. Download the XLS and send that to LL.

Would your partner's messages be capped at about 20 or so of those messages?
Also, yes, it would be difficult to log on to SL because of the enormous amount of items in the inventory. I have 27K+ items on my main account; but, my alts only have a mere 4 or 5K items in thier inventory and my alts log in much, much faster than my main. It shouldn't matter; but, it does.

it seems some mafia families in SL use this "weapon" as a mean of pressure (you know the "protection" fees)

A new option has been added in Preferences > General > “Automatic preview of new notecards/textures/landmarks” - Turning this option off will display the normal blue dialog when a notecards/textures/landmarks is offered. The blue dialog will tell you who is sending the item and also give you the opportunity to Mute that person. This is especially helpful if you are being spammed.

The new client also places a throttle on how fast anyone can give textures or notecards to anyone else. The limit is now no more than 5 textures or 5 notecards in 10 seconds. So if someone dumps 10,000 textures on you, now you'll only get 5.
