Wedding Officiants ?

My sweetie and I recently got engaged and are in the process of planning our wedding. We've decided to have the ceremony and the reception on our land since it will be a small group.

Now to find someone to officiate at the ceremony. I don't see much in terms of (free lance? lol) ministers or Justices of the Peace (or whatever they may be calling themselves).

Most of the ceremony officiants have been linked specifically to sims that offer their land for weddings (and it's included in a price).

While I certainly don't mind paying someone to perform our wedding, I also don't know if contacting these people to do so (if not having our ceremony in the places they're connected with) is bad form.

If anyone knows of someone who is able to perform weddings, I'd love to get a referral. Feel free to PM me here, or IM me in-world.

Side note: I'm aware of the "ask a friend to do it" option, but would prefer someone in something of an official capacity.

Side side note: Do Lindens perform wedding ceremonies? Hmm....

Now I know there was a thread here a couple of weeks back but can I ever get search forum to work properly?
Try search in-game for wedding organiser Deandra. They are bound to know officiates. If they seem retiscent to divulge contact details, just mention the possibility of catering or gowning ;)

Thank you for the lead. I imagine there are several coordinators in SL --as in RL-- who attempt to sell a product along with a service.

In light of that (and my utter lack of patience where all things "sales pitchy" are concerned), we could do it in a "pledge to one another" fashion without someone else there to make it official (since the partnership is really just a matter of accepting the proposal where game mechanics are concerned).

Sometimes difficulties in going the usual route lead us to being more creative. Thanks for the (unintentional) push down that path :)

You could ask Jade Opal or Almitra Blair. They run a sim called Cameo and a wedding business called "wedding bells" I don't know if they do off sim weddings but they are both pretty knowledgeable about the wedding circuit and if they don't they should know someone who does.

Thank you for the responses :)

After rolling around the idea of being given cards, ads, and sales pitches for things I either already have, or want to look around for myself, I discussed it with my fiance and we're going to go the "pledge" route. I'm one of those annoying people who likes to have a handle on everything (ok ok "control freak" I said it!!)

Besides, I get to design a build around the "pledge" concept, and I'm an admitted buildaholic :D

Thanks again for those with ideas/references!

My partner and I had a pledge ceremony. It was lovely and worked very well. We said what we felt about each other and didn't miss having someone there at all. Wore lovely clothes and made it a special occasion. He had been asking me to marry for months but I didn't want a wedding ceremony as such.

Congratulations and hope you have a wonderful day :)

Exactly what I wanted to know! My sweetie and I will have a pledge ceremony as well since the whole "looking for officials and license and location" takes us too long...we just want to go ahead with it! (Impatient? Yes!) Coming saturday will be the day...*knees shake*

To all who made the step: Good luck! To all who will inthe near future: Have a great day!

Good luck to you, Mandy! I'm sure everything will be just beautiful :)

We had an absolutely beautiful ceremony on our land, followed by the usual ridiculousness when "the usual suspects" are rounded up for a celebration hehehe

The only thing I found we needed to do (in light of the fact there was no officiant) was for my husband to make a small speech thanking all for coming. After he was done, I walked down the aisle and we said our vows (tissues, please!!!). After the (lengthy) kiss, I thanked our friends for sharing in our day and invited them all to celebrate our union.

As is always the case, it FLEW by, but friends gave us pictures they'd snapped throughout the evening. So we have some really beautiful memories :)

I hope you have the perfect day that we did.. *sighs and smiles, remembering*

Thanks Deandra! I'm sure we'll have a great day and the thought alone makes my knees weak but that's all part of it I guess. We've found a beautiful location near a waterfall so it'll be perfect. Give me an IM when I'm online and I'll show you the pics...

Yes Bilbo...there'll be cake...;-)
