First Land & Prims on land

I am sure this gets asked regularly and I did some searching. But in the past 8 days I have been a premium member, I have yet to be able to find any first land. It always says "none found" in the search.

Has there been any first land or is there a time of the day to check? It's fustrating as I would like to purchase some land as well, but want to take advantage of my first land deal.

Also, what is a recommended number of prims on land that is bought for a decently furnished home? For example, on a 2048 or 3072m lot.

Thanks

First land has been in very short supply lately. It's a case of luck mostly if you can find it before someone else does.

512 sq m (first land size) gives you a 117 prim allowance. Lots of places sell low prim 'newbie housing' specifically designed for this purpose - just over the road from us in Rosieri is Coco's Cottages, she has a range called the '512 collection' which may interest you.

As a general rule of thumb, I spend no more than 1/2 of the parcel's prim allocation on buildings. You'll want the rest for furniture, pose balls, and other stuff that you want to use on your land.

I've made one-room, nice looking cottages with as few as 9 prims, and that included a window on one side and a scripted door. It goes up from there.

In my own experience, it takes 2048 to 4096 M2 of land to support something roughly as complex as a RL house - A couple of bedrooms, a living room, and a couple of other rooms. But it depends a LOT on how realistic you want it to be.

So, do you have to be a premium member before you can even see if there is First Land available in the in-game search, or can anyone see that there is land up for grabs?

I'm keen to get my hands on some first land...I'm so impressed with the interaction in the game and the level of connection with the outside world (i.e. Lindens, DJ's taking requests etc) that I wanna set up a home of my own and add to the community.

Also, if first land is in such short supply, and Linden Labs state they create new land to meet demand, it begs the question whether they are holding off on new land to increase the market price of existing land?!? Wouldn't put it past them...they are a company after all...and a companies main goal is to make money.

Finally, do Linden Labs inform new residents when new land is available or it just a matter of checking and checking and checking again until some is available.

Thanks in advance ya'll.

Honestly I don't think they have the machines for first land right now...every last machine they get in is going to meet the onslaught of private island orders they recieved before Nov. 15. Once they're caught up on their private island sales they should be able to divert some resources to first land...bummer for the new million players that are looking for land...

Do a search with "first land" entered. (with the quotations)

There are hundreds of others like you out there and no you don't need to be premium to see first land.

Key is to watch for first land when Guy Linden is online. He opens a few pieces here and there.

I saw a commercial for an above-ground pool. It was thirty seconds long. You know why? Because that's the maximum amount of time you can depict yourself having fun in an above-ground pool - M.H.

You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later. - M.H.

Anyone can search for First Land. But only a Premium member who has NEVER made a mainland land purchase is supposed to be eligible to buy it.

The demand far exceeds the supply right now. It gets snapped up as soon as it appears, sometimes within minutes of being posted for sale as First Land.

There is a suspicion that one or more people are 'gaming the system' and have found a way to buy first land and transfer it to their main account that is sufficently profitable to be worth it for a land scammer. I haven't personnaly seen that proven, but some people claim thay have. It may, however, just be someone preying on naieve newbies, offering them L$1000 or L$2000 for their brand-new 512 M2 parcel that they just paid L$512 for, the newbie not realizing that the "fair market value" on the parcel is at least L$5000 to L$8000.
