I posted this in another place.....but am still upset because i get no real answers. Has anyone else had AO's disappear while logged off? Did you get any help from the Lindens if you did? and how did you get help? I find that after spending lots of real dollars buying Lindens that there is no real support for this game. I can't afford to buy a new AO and load it with all the things i want repeatedly.....and get no help from the Lindens or bug reports or anything. They should put that in the advertisements to entice people to play this game....beware you may be wasting money buying things.

Moved to our new Resident Answers. Anyone have tips?
Sometimes when I lost an AO, it was just invisible. Some of them (like Franimation Overrider) have commands like "/ao show" to make them visible.

Try the search function in your inventory window. I usually misplace a lot of stuff but I can (sometimes) find it again in the inventory.
Another thing is that if you put in a 'no copy' animation your AO turns to 'no copy' as well. When you make a new outfit the AO gets transferred to your new outfit. At least that was my experience once.

Some suggestions

One thing you can do is try and contact the creator, and see if he/she/it can replace it for you. Most people know SL is going through some growing pains and will sympathize.
Failing that, there are free AOs and animations available at Yadni's Junkyard and probably other freebie places. If you'd like to make your own, and possibly even make some money from the sales of it, try the AO class at Teazers. A friend of mine just took a quick class at Teazers and made herself a really nice AO that she's quite proud of!
Sure it sux losing something you paid good money for, but who knows, maybe it's not lost after all. Have you cleared your cache lately? Checked your trash? Lost and Found? Perhaps you dropped it and not detached it? There's a lot of ways something may appear to be "lost" but not really.

Just a little correction - contact the _seller_ not the creator The little AO I made, it gets redistributed and resold (legitimately) without my involvement. I get tonnes of IMs from people about their AO sets that I can't help because I have no involvement in making them. I don't sell or personally distribute AO sets. The only thing I handle personally are the bug reports. If you need help, there should be a list of about a dozen AO volounteer helpers in the documentation that ships with my AO. Always happy to add more people to that list if anyone would like to help out

Clearing cache, in prefs, and relogging sometimes makes things reappear in your inventory.

If it has just dissapeared on your avatar you can right click your avatar to get the pie options. Choose detach all (note this will unattach anything prim you are wearing including clothing, hair, jewelry, etc).. Check and see if it is back in your inventory.
If it was accidently dropped in world in might of returned to your lost and found folder. Look in there.
Good luck. Let us know if you find it.

First, start with your inventory and do a search for key word "worn". This will show you everything you are currently wearing (be ready for some temporary inventory lag if you have a bunch of inventory). Is your AO there, amongst the worn items? just on an attachment point you didn't expect?
Did you test your ao on/off command? If you are wearing it, it will respond to your command.
Next, search based on the name, or better yet, a partial name of your AO. Example: Fran instead of Franimation. As Bree recommended above, it may just be misplaced. Yes this gives you more results to wade through, but also decreases the chance of missing it due to a spelling issue like "~~Black Diamond~~" vs "Black Diamond". (the longer string will not find the shorter one, but the shorter one will ALWAYS find the longer one).
If those fail, and a relog/clear cache doesn't return it, and the Lindens can return it (assuming it's a item grabbed by the Garbage Can program mentioned in the blog), then you might have dropped it. This is very rare, but not unheard of. Go back using show transparants, and see if you can find it. Barring that, find a friend with an objects scanner (one of those things i see on SLEX that show you all objects around and who owns them).
