Who doesn't want better search?
Please check the thread called "OMG you've got to see this!!!!" (wherever it may be when you read this; somebody unnamed filed an AR against it) if you are worried about suggesting ideas already suggested. Anything you can think of to help improve search services SUCH AS THIS ought to be welcome to virtually all Residents and, presumably, LL management, assuming it is concerned for the welfare of SL and its Residents.
What is desired is suggestions for a search that makes easily accessible things that are legitimately on sale in-world, protects Residents from theft of objects inadvertently left on-sale to the public and not inetended to be, protects Resident privacy while properly publicizing legitimately for-sale items, helps protect owner rights, and generally acts like a good citizen.
I am offering no service, make no profit from any (other than the benefit all Residents would receive from having such a facility), and am starting this thread entirely to help make SL a better environment for everyone because I think it is important.
Also desired: For the coward that posted the unidentified AR against the other thread to identify himself so his fellow Residents can treat him with the general regard and - ah - "affection" he deserves. (No, I am not holding my breath.) I also respectfully request that LL immediately ban anyone who files an AR against such an effort for abuse of LL resources and facilities. Thank you very much.
Let's hear it, folks.

According to the Community Standards "Every Abuse Report is individually investigated, and the identity of the reporter is kept strictly confidential." Asking that the rule be overturned will not make it so. Asking that the indivdiual identify themself will not make it so as, according to the Community Standards: "Every Abuse Report is individually investigated, and the identity of the reporter is kept strictly confidential."

Just giving thaqt "public-minded" citizen (without saying what he has in mind for the public) to come forward so he can get the accolades he deserves...

From: Har Fairweather Just giving thaqt "public-minded" citizen (without saying what he has in mind for the public) to come forward so he can get the accolades he deserves... And... oh gosh... the person doesn't have to as according to the Community Standards: "Every Abuse Report is individually investigated, and the identity of the reporter is kept strictly confidential." Calling the individual a "coward" does not make them so as they are under no obligation to identify themself. Disregarding the Community Standards does not make them magically go away. The Terms of Service, Community Standards, and Forum Guidelines apply to all of us equally. Why must someone always insist that they be applied unequally to everyone else but themself? (I know... "SPIDERS SPIDERS SPIDERS!" Please note that your intent, if you acquired the name, is to harass the other individual for merely exercising their right(s) under the current system. You're asking for a "license to troll." There isn't one.

From: Har Fairweather Now, who has some suggestions for a better in-world search service? It needs to be able to identify people who have filed Abuse Reports, give us their home address, and also tell us where the nearest gas station is so we can buy a one-gallon can of "accolades" and matches. Err... it's for a "housewarming."

From: Har Fairweather Now, who has some suggestions for a better in-world search service? My suggestion: Teach those making ads as to what to palce in them so as not to mislead people. Don't put in "hair" when you run a club. Most of the ads I see read like spam posts: hairshoescarscasinosexdogscatspolkadotstreesgrass How about JUST advertising what you are selling, or simply describe the buisness. The bolian (sp?) search works well if people would jsut grow a brain on advertising. ~Jessy

From what I know/understand, with the current built tools and settings there's no way for an automated service to tell if something is genuinely for sale in a store or just happens to have the 'sale' price still set but is sitting in someone's Living Room. Of course, this *could* be made to work if shopkeepers/merchants Opted In to the service, as I'm sure was discussed to death in the Electric Sheep Bot thread, but it wouldn't catch everything as not all shopkeepers would hear about it. Another alternative would be to improve the in-world Classifieds Search by adding NOT, AND, OR as I'm sure has been suggested by a JIRA posting.

Easy: if a parcel is listed in places consider it public and collect data, if it's not listed in places assume it's private and move on.
