I have a pair of shorts that no matter what I do will not come off. I have taken off all clothes, huds, and attatchments. Still the shorts remain. I have even gone to that folder and it says they are off, but no they are not. What can I do to get these shorts off? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not part of a 'skin' is it?

If its not part of the skin... Go into appearance mode and it should come off. if not relog.

The other option which I doubt is your case but my partner fell foul of it last night, is if it's a prim clothing item. These, you 'detach'.

I had this problem once before... a piece of cloth would not come off, unless I changed skin. Tried Appearance, no luck. Tried clearing the cache, no luck. So I copied the skin in my inv and worn the "new" one (the skins are copy/no trans for the most part), and voila ! Problem solved. Now if anyone can explain why it actually did that, be my guest

In the early days of SL, clothes were more like skin and were applied textures to the avatar, if you are wearing a freebie skin, there is a good chance the asset server has given you an old copy, when you create a new copy, the server updates you with the 'upgraded version'

Sounds a little bit like a problem I have. There is one club (my favourite) and everytime I TP there I have my left shoe stuck up my a@@. I cannot get rid of it until I leave. I did once manage it but I was left with a hole through I could see and trust my a@@ is not that big. My workaround has been to TP with no shoes and socks then put them on when I get there although sometimes wearing shoes has proven impossible. It makes no difference which type of shoes I wear. My point is have you tried to undress in another location? I know it sounds really stupid but so is my left foot Andrew

I have the same sort of problem, whilst shopping for a new skin I tried on a 'demo' and then bought another skin that I preferred....when I put the new skin on (over the demo) I still have 'DEMO RAC' on different parts of my avatar. It looks stupid walking arounf SL looking like a shopwindow mannikin!! does anyone have any ideas?

Try to rebake:
go into client -> caracter -> rebake testures or just rebake
that has worked for me when the demo marks won't come off

I was having major clothing issues last night. Whenever I changed into a particular outfit, a shirt and skin appeared on my avie that were not in the folder for that outfit. Even when I took off this outfit, wore the right skin, and then just added the pieces to the new outfit, my skin would switch back (just happened to be the shirt and skin my avie was wearing when I logged in). Even after a relog, this kept happening. Finally, SL crashed on me, and things started working after that. Made for a very frustrating evening.
I wish I had thought about the rebaking textures. I wonder if that would have worked.

Happens to me sometimes, and even persists after clearing cache and relogging. Diana's solution is what works

LL Introduced the method of, when you applied layers of clothing, it all flattened into one layer, exposing only those parts of underlying textures/skin, that showed through. This made less strain on the serverside, when transferring 'assets' between sim servers when TPing. The only thing they forgot to impliment was the automatic transferring of this 'flattened texture' across to other clients within view (draw distance, theirs not yours), hence why you were the only person unaware of the MI tag applied to your avatar. Rebaking in the Client menu was introduced to force a manual re-sending of that flattened texture to every 'local' client. This has no effect on applied prims. For the most part, the MI issue has been resolved and you can also now set the 'composite' layers in preferences. Try reducing the composite layers to 2, instead of the default 5, that does bring about forced re-sending of your flattened texture to each client. The shoe and hair issue in the crouch, along with some other perhaps more useful appendages (Hi is that a gun in ur pants, or are you just pleased to see me?), is the mix up of the X,Y,Z coordinates of the root prims defaulting to the base prim of the avatar. The waist/hips are the baseline prim for avatars, in which all other Avatar prims animate and rotate around, much like the base of the human spine. My suggestion, don't buy pink flexi boots with a red bulbus toe projection from them, you may gat banned from certain places LOLOL...

I keep losing my eyes, which is pretty creepy...not even MI, just a black void in my head. If I go into Appearance, they reappear, only to disappear again when I close out of it. Rebake seems to work, but I don't always catch it, since the camera's default position is behind my av. Oh, and if SL isn't being so glitchy that you're afraid you won't be able to get back in, relogging will send wandering prim attachments back where they belong, without having to detach and reattach them.

Ann that might actually be caused by prim hair being in slightly the wrong spot. I've had that when putting on new prim hair, if it'sjust a teeny bit too far forward, some of the 'internal' bits fill my eyesockets in. With black hair, it looks like the eyes have disappeared.
Next time you note your eyes are missing, you can find out if its the hair by detatching it. Or, just right click the hair and edit it, and move it back just very slightly, and see if your eyes reappear.

No, I've had that issue in the past...it doesn't look quite the same and my eyes do reappear if I rebake. Thanks, though.

From: Quixotica DeCuir Some other newbie out there must be wondering this too... Rebake? Diana mentioned it on the first page, but what you do is hit Ctrl-Alt-D to get the Client menu, then go Client>Character>Rebake Textures. It reloads whatever textures you're wearing and is generally used when someone has the black and white 'Missing Image' logo emblazoned on their avatar instead of clothes and skin. I've recently found it useful for eye retrieval as well.

From: Quixotica DeCuir Thanks. Pays to start from page one, doesn't it? haha. not for some of the recent threads .. you'd have to give up your day job to read them LOL I've found rebake rarely if ever better than the good old 'edit appearance' toggle. Just lately, I've been appearing as just a head to some friends while others see the whole me. Spooky!
