My hands are... odd. If anyone has seen "Young Frankenstein", remember the part where they are sneaking the corpse out, the policeman stops them, and he ends up shaking hands with the corpse? The way the hand was positioned there?
Well, my hands in SL are stuck like that. Doesn't matter what AO I use, or don't use. Doesn't matter what animation is running. When I walk the fingers are splayed out like a child showing you that they are five, painfully-looking splayed, and almost misshapen.
I've ruthed myself in the client menu, tried various animations, stopped all animations, etc., etc. It's been weeks now. I'm annoyed to the point of finding a way to chop them off and just made the handicap part of my Avi's persona.
Any ideas? I haven't come here lightly, I've been trying to fix this forever, and I've searched. Well, you know how LL searches are, in SL and here on the forums, but I have searched nonetheless. If anyone has any advice or can point me to something I've overlooked I'd appreciate it.

The mesh morphs are just not loading from the asshat.. er... asset server. Not a lot you can do about it really, but chances are good it will self correct soon anyway.

Does it do the funny hand thing when you log on as an alt? (If you have one.) That might tell you if it's your computer, or the account. If it's your computer (or if you can't do the alt thing), have you cleared out the settings folder manually? Doing that often resets the software completely, more than even reinstalling does (as that leaves the old config info there a lot of the time). If you log chat/IM, be sure to pull those logs out before you delete the rest of the folder. When you next log on, you'll get all the silly "help" tips like you were a new user, and you will have to set all your options back the way you like them.
If it's still doing it, uninstall the software, delete the settings folder, and reinstall, and see if that fixes it.
Still doing it? Maybe try from another computer if you can? If it still does it from another computer, then I would say it's definitely on the server side, in which case it is time for a support ticket and live help.

Omw to try those things. I hadn't considered that the settings for the hands thing might not be uninstalled, duh. Thanks very much. *fingers... um... crossed* (in rl, where I can cross them...)

Gonna put in a ticket on it in a few days if it hasn't changed. I've checked with another couple of people and they say that while the hands do change position sometimes in idle stances, they are splayed wildly on their machines, too. I installed SL clean on another PC here at the house and it is the same. Thanks all.
