Unable to modify appearance

Hi-

Is there any reason why you wouldn't be able to modify your appearance? The Edit->Appearance menu is disabled and if I right click on my avatar and select Appearance nothing happens.

Hmm.. sounds like the shape/avatar info is still downloading. Have you tried changing an outfit, such as a shirt? If you get the "Still downloading.." sort of info, then that's what's happening.

The most reliable fix for this is to wait about 15 minutes and see if it finishes downloading. Otherwise, log out, clear the cache, go to the login screen/preferences and chose, "Show start location in login screen." Go back to the login screen and use the pull down until you get to, "Type region name here," and type in Pooley. Log in.

Thank you for the tip. I'm still having the same problem. It says-

"Cant' change appearance until clothing and shape are loaded."

I created the character last night and was logged in for a long time.

Any thoughts?

Try this....worked for the wife when she had this problem. Took us a month...to figure it out.

1. Press Control + Alt + D to bring up the Client and Sever menus.

2. Under Client...go to Character.

3. Under Character, go to Character tests.

4. Select Test Female.

You should now have the default newbie female. From here, you can reapply your skin, shape, hair, shoes, etc.

or log out, open up the SL start window, select Preferences, clear the cache, and re-log.
