Has anybody else had this happen...

You check out someone's classified ad in their profile, and when you close it, you get a pop-up asking "Do you want to save changes?"

Save changes to SOMEONE ELSE'S AD???

That sounds like a dangerous bug! Had I accidently hit yes, would I have been charged the $175,000 they were paying for the ad?

Also, the other day, I did a routine "Return Objects" (from the land/objects window, to return a few stray prims to their owner) when I got the message "Bird Nest (an object owned by me) can not be returned since it is non-transferrable"

WTF? Is it now surreptitiously attempting to return *MY* stuff to strangers that drop things on my land??? I was careful to select the person's name in the "Land/Objects/Refresh List" only, like we've always done.

Bugs like this SHOULD BE an insult to any developers' integrity. But not here - nope - it's the norm. I think the TOS could be simplified to nothing but a picture of MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Newman with the caption "What, me worry?"

I've had that happen a few times when I'm checking out groups other people are in, or land information. I have no idea what causes it-- I just think, 'Um, no?' click no, and close it.

Sorry if I am double posting. I swear that I posted in this thread, but now it seems to be gone.

I tested this with my alt and it doesn't really change the other ad. The bug is just brining up the save window. It has been like this for me for several weeks now.

It's not you, Nimue. Menubar posted the same thread twice.

LOL. Thanks Ava. I thought I lost my mind or was trapped in a time warp!

No more making dinner while reading forums.

Maybe this explains why my crab disappeared from my beach. Damn crabnappers!

But seriously, if people can touch my profile, objects and stuff, we are in for even more panic in the streets than we are already experiencing. And stuff.

Check the list of currents bugs and issues -- you'll find the answers you seek. This is a known bug, and even if you were to click "Apply changes" you are unable to make changes to the profile of another avatar, group, or classified ad that you don't have permissions to modify.

Nothing to see here, just another known bug. In the future you might wanna check out the known issues with the client *first*.

*tilts her head and notices the twitch*

See that is what you get from reading the problems with the client always. I always said so, it much better to post them here.... so we something to discuse, argue and flame about*
*nods*
That is much better.

(And *giggles* No, I almost never watch that list of bugs. This forum is my source of information)

Sorry, I must have reloaded the page after posting and it sent the post twice.

By way of apologies to those that had to read it twice, here's a joke...

A woman goes to a pet shop and purchases a parrot. She brings the parrot home and it suddenly begins shouting insults at her.

"You fat hag-bag, you suck and everybody hates you. Go to hell!"

For weeks she tries to teach the bird to say nice things, like "Hello" or "Polly Want a Cracker" or even "I love you".

But the bird keeps on it's tirade of insults.

"You stupid b!tch - you look like a fat greasy lump of garbage" etc...

One day she finally loses her patience. After an especially degrading insult, she angrily grabs the bird by the throat and says "THAT DOES IT! You need to chill out for a while bird!"

And with those words, she throws the bird into the freezer and slams the door shut. "That should cool him off for a while."

At first the bird puts up a fuss "Let me outta here or I'll kill you you stupid bovine shaped walrus turd!"

But suddenly all the shouting stops.

...

She begins to worry. Maybe the bird couldn't take the cold in the freezer and died! She'd feel just awful!

So she runs to the fridge, opens the freezer and the parrot gently steps onto her finger and says...

"Madam, from here on in, I will endeavor to speak more kindly of you, I promise to mind my manners, and I shall strive to become a more gentle pet for you."

The woman is stunned and perplexed by the parrots change of attitude. She says "Are you serious, or is this just another of your tricks?"

The parrot says "I assure you I am sincere madam. And by the way, my fine lady, might I inquire as to what the chicken in there said?"

It happens with groups too. Click anywhere in the group's charter area, and then try to close the group window. Even if your not in the group.

this has been around for awhile its kinda annoying (cause i forget about it) and go prancing through some guys profile reading his picks or ads for some new neat stuff and then i have to close 20 of those pop-ups asking me to change stuff I can't change.

Last time someone posted about this apparently it had to do with the "godmode" the Lindens use that is turned on but not actually usable by us.

Anyhow you get used to it just if you read profiles of your friends and they ahve 20 million picks and classifieds you close an aweful lot of windows at the end ^^
