I was talking about this subject with a few friends last night. Ever since I joined I have been wondering if anyone has found long lost RL family members, or relatives you had never met.

I figure with a population of now 7 000 000+, there may have been a reunion or two.

Does anyone know of any such happenings? I think that would make for an interesting book. I am also wondering about this for personal reasons.

Just curious....

I wish, what a great opportunity something like that could be! However, most people don't share personal information, at least not right away, and with the number of people in Second Life, the odds of running into someone you know seems chance at best. I have met a lot of amazing people on Second Life, and a lot of not-so-amazing, but never anyone I knew. The closest I ever came to meeting someone I knew was going out to dinner with my dad and sister, and him bringing up that someone from his work was playing Second Life, and if I'd ever heard of it. Still, if someone has, that'd be an awesome thing to hear about.

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

With most residents not revealing their true identities, I'd say the odds are pretty slim. But if anyone is a Michael Rosenberg from Maine who lived in Miami in the late 70's and early 80's, please contact me.

I think the greater danger is that of some young, hip 19 year old discovering to their horror that their SL love is actually their crazy cat-lady aunt...

If someone answers A/S/L a little bit toooo close to home, watch out!

I did met someone I have talked to in another place. She remembered me. We haven't spoken since. I figured she just busy or not interested. There is probably high chance my baby brother plays SL but we haven't spoken in years and chance I met him here would be rare.

Well, I met someone who seemed to come from the same area as me, and after chatting for a while she said, 'Oh my God, are you Tamsyn?' So I said, 'no, but I work for her Mother-in-law!' We have never met in RL, but she lives about a mile or so up the road from me, which is pretty near!!

I think this is the beginning of a breakout. A breakout where everybody that posts lives only a mile from the recent poster somehow. ;)
