I imagine I already know the answer to my own question. But I just want to double check.
In my profile on 2nd life, there is a tab for 1st life. My question is, does 1st life refer to my "real life"?

Yes. Just a space to write whatever you want or don't want about your real life, and include a picture if you like.
Most people just write anything in there, usually "First life stays first life, 2nd is second," and include another screen of their avatar, but you can do anything you want with it. It is your profile, after all =)
