I have a couple of questions and am bringing them to you for your answers 1. - If you had a Class 4 Island /w grandfather rights and wanted to sell it how much would you ask for it? 2. - How much do you think someone would pay for it? I would greatly appreciate your opinions... Thanks (not selling or buying ... just need to know)

Wow its been 7 hours and 43 views and not one response. I thought I would at least have a couple I needed your help because I am involved in a debate about the issue and was agreed that we would ask other residents and get thier opinions to see which of us might have a better understanding of it. Could a few of you Please help me out?

Hi Zazas Didnt the grandfathering ended if you transferred after some date in february? Which means: - this is on an old server - monthly costs are the same as a new server
I would guess 1200 USD or so.
I know I wouldnt have bought a sim on an old server now, unless I also got the old montly fee.

Hi Eva and Thank You for responding. I know my fees are still 195.00 a month through Feb 2008. And I didnt know they stopped the Grandfathering last month. I just got an email from a Jack Linden stateing.... " Unfortunately there is no upgrade route from a class 4 to a 5 (there is very little performance difference between them anyway). *being in game and haveing been to both seems to me there is alot of differnce LOL So I'm thinking that because of the lower tier if it is still transferable is the only plus which might make the price a bit more than the original price. And if you are right then probably wouldnt get any more than what it was bought for. The other person thinks cause there is no more "First Land" and main land auctions are at between 3 and 4k then it makes the island worth alot more. I'm saying that has nothing to do with what Islands sell for because its not "Mainland Land" its an Island. And first land never had anything to do with either auctions or islands. We have had this debate several times and so wanted extra thoughts on the issue. If I'm wrong then so be it but want to put an end to the debate about this issue. Again Eva thanks for responding and if you have any more thoughts would love to hear them also I am hopeing to get a few more opinions on this... Please

Eva I think this is true, but I don't know. If it is grandfathered, it really isn't worth that much more. You have to pay to upgrade when voice comes about anyway. If it is still at the lower tier, I would say no more then maybe $1600-1800, without, I would say $1200-1400. These are just my guesses and I have no first hand knowledge of any servers that have been transfered.

Seems like they changed their mind. Jack Linden posted this on the blog on Jan 29th: From: someone Regarding February 1st and region transfers
In November 2006, we stated that the older, lower priced islands would retain their lower monthly fees for the new owner in the event of them being transferred. We also said that this would be reviewed on February 1st 2007. For the time being, we have decided to maintain current policy. Any subsequent changes will, of course, be announced with sufficient notice.
So, your sim is still grandfathered And then I agree with Dnate, its worth around 1800 USD.

I am not sure about the 1800 because the tier price sounds uncertain to me; I would just go ahead and order a new island rather than pay a premium for an older one with an uncertain tier. I would pay maybe $1000 for an older island at this point because it can't be upgraded and the tier will go up eventually. Also, I can't change the terrain, etc.

The tier is 195 until at least 1/08 and the land can be changed same as any island new or used

Hm odd, it used to be that if you transferred it after feb 07 the new owners had to pay the new tier fee...
