In another thread it was said that LL don't let any Lindens be bought at this time, probably because a lot of casino owners cash out now, so they're trying to keep the Lindex stable.

By not selling the currency would create instability, especially if so called Casino owners are cashing out.
Don't understand the logic there.. |

Hence, the LindeX would not remain stable. Though trading on the LindeX can be halted for short durations due to certain triggers new "fresh" currency is injected into the Second Life economy constantly by sales from the Supply Linden account. This makes the LindeX rather freakishly stable as demand for currency is always met and the exchange rate has remained steady (for months and months) at around L$267(+/-1):US$1 Sales by the Supply Linden account on the LindeX is Linden Lab's third-largest source of revenue (the first two being tier fees/island fees and Premium subscriptions). |

Though trading on the LindeX can be halted for short durations due to certain triggers I think that's exactly the point here. The trigger might in this case be a few big players selling out, so to keep demand stable, selling "fresh" money is on hold until the trigger is... well, trigged...? Uhm, you know what I mean. ![]() |

The trigger might in this case be a few big players selling out, so to keep demand stable, selling "fresh" money is on hold until the trigger is... well, trigged...? Uhm, you know what I mean. ![]() The "circuit breakers" are triggered when the /average/ exchange rate goes up or down 10-percent or more. As the average exchange rate is constantly stable (due to injection of "fresh" currency by sales from the Supply Linden account) it would take vast vast vast amounts of currency for this to happen. A "few big players" actually can't trigger this event on their own (or even collectively) as they'd hit their trading limit before they could put enough currency into the market (this is why the "few big players" either set up and/or use third-party exchanges). For all we know, for example, the OP has nothing in their PayPal account and thus is unable to buy currency. |

For all we know, for example, the OP has nothing in their PayPal account and thus is unable to buy currency. Or they need to reenter the payment information, or they met their allowed trading limit in purchases or LL is having billing issues again. It could be anything, and without more information we can't say which it could be. Samaira, go to the my account at the top of the login screen. There are two things you'll want to check: One is if where you are at in your trading limit. If you have/met exceeded, then you will not be able to buy L until the next billing cycle. If this isn't the case, then you may want to try to reenter the billing information. _____________________

Try buying a vowel, instead. Consonants are just overrated.
Some of the best conversations in my life have happened using vowel sounds alone... http://forums.secondlife.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
