Is it possible to Instant Message (IM) an object rather than a person? It does need to be IM rather than chat as many people may be IM'ing to the same object at the same time.
thanks

It is impossible to IM an object.

Objects can be reached via email if it is set up to receive email and if you have the object's key / UUID.

For in-world avatar-to-object communication, I generally use higher-level chat channels, or dialog boxes, depending on what needs to be communicated.

Thanks Atashi Toshihiko for your reply, but if you use Chat does it not appear for all to see who are in the local area? How can you set a higher chat channel when chatting from the avatar to the object?

thanks..

simple just put the channel you want to talk to your object on at the front of your chat message like so:
To talk on channel 30...

/30 Hello object

Do understand that your object will have to listening on channel 30... This question is best taken up on the scripting forum.

Poco, you can chat on a different channel like this:

/1 your message
/99 your other message
etc

Those get sent on channels 1 and 99 respectively, and are not visible as regular chat.

edit: oops, too slow :o
