I bought a package of 500 animations as Business in a box which to me means or infers the Seller is selling their own creations "BUSINESS IN A BOX". Well I got the business alright. XXXXXXX Engawa sells supposedly 500 animations which are all freebies 195 are gestures and they should be removed from sale immediately and all residents alerted. I paid 899 for this box of animations you can pick up anywhere. I am appalled this merchant would do such a thing. As a result I am listing it for free and anyone wanting them can IM me for it I will also place in every shop I own and give to all who wish to put out as a freebie.

While trying to find remaining things this merchant was selling, I noted a merchant that has taken my idea of color changing hair which I worked hard on and now is now selling it as a business in a box for 2400 Linden-

This is so sick these people (newbies with no skills) take the work of others pass as their own as far as I am concerned they are "stealing" because they have no creativity of their own. It is so upsetting that things took me months to work on is copied using freebie hair or cheap hair businesses and pass along like its is their idea this second seller is XXXXXXr ---

I am so sick of this constant theft of creative thievery - Why should anyone want to make things better when this is done so callously.

Sick to my stomach

The only time I recommend buying 'business in a box' is when you can see all of the items were made by the same person, etc.. I paid just 200l for about 150 outfits, which I can give away as freebies, gifts, etc.

Sadly, that's the risk you take. The best thing to do is to report it to the Lindens as an abuse report. Just like in RL there's someone always willing to seperate you from your money.

Actually, if you think about it, "business in a box" sounds like you would be purchasing someone else's work to resell anyways. Am I mistaken or was that your intent. Don't mistake me, I"m not accusing you of wrong doing. If a creator wants to box their creations up with full permissions that is their choice. Not a very economical thing to do though because you'd have full perm copies all over SL in short order if that were the case because someone would buy that "Business in a Box" and simply give outfull perm copies to their friends and then they to their friends and so on ...

Has there ever actually been a "business in a box" that wasn't just stolen items or freebies?

I'm not familiar enough w/them to be honest but I would imagine that's hitting the nail on the head.

That's because working hard and coming up with original ideas is a totally anti-capitalist attitude ;)

Sorry about your experience Amari. I have noticed that people repackage Freebies and sell them. I am wondering if there was a way to add this to the knowledge base or Orientation to encourage new people to check out the Freebie places first.

Was it on SLX? Perhaps if it was, you could also complain to them. From what I hear, they are pretty nice folk. Thanks for warning us.

although the business in a box thing is upsetting (dont buy them its safer actually as most people who do buy them usually end up making them freebies anyhow) the colour changing hair is not a new idea and in an of itself is not really something anyone can steal. I have thought of colour changing hair as well as sometimes I make hair but decided against making yet another scripted attachement which may or may not work properly in 3/4's of sims and if I dont do it right will be a sim killer hehe.

Moral of the story never buy a business in a box and if you do expect it to be junk and be pleasantly surprised if its not and also expect that many people are buying them with the intention of turning them into free gifts :)

business in a box -

I have purchased things from someone leaving the game or selling BIB's when they have no land are not in game and just have in slx- i might be wrong but to me its the creator content - but i wont even go into the mess the offender did to me in IMs - so now i have put it out everywhere for free
- I make things on my own i include these things in my events
and giveaways or add to other packages I sell never represent them as my creations

I cant be dishonest and I wont be for a Buck or a Linden

I like to get these things and give at events I hold - or add ons to clothing and other things I create like furniture poses whatever but never to represent anything as my creation. I like to believe I honor all creators just as I would hope people would do the same to me.

so now it is for free in every shop and will be given away at my live music events

when you buy a BiaB you get it full perm

many people buy them and then give them away fo free

just cuz one person gives away what they paid for fo free doesnt make it a 'freebie'

and other people still sell it.

dont assume just cuz you can get it free somewhere, it's a freebie or 'stolen'

anyone who wants to spend the money can buy every BiaB and give em away for free just to be nice or just to try to 'ruin' the creator for being so niave to sell the items full perm.

according to the rules of SL any item that is full perm you have the right to 1)give away for free 2) sell

The whole BIB concept seems like a rip off.

It's like those frauds that sell books-on-tape on how to get rich quick.

Step one: write a book on how to get rich quick...

Didn't you hear they lock forums for no reason now anyway so nobody should really give a damn about naming names here and to the OP way to cave in.
