Furry avatars

Major and kind of in need of an answer, Does anyone in Second Life know if Linden Labs plans to get rid of furry avatars?, also can we abuse report people for treating a furry avatar like crap in a particular sim bumping into the person who is wearing a furry avatar or push them around is that right for such a thing to happen I am curious cause I have 450+ Furry, scaley and some Human avatars I think I have put alot of money into this game for those avatars I would not like to be taken out of game cause of that so that is why this question is in need of an answer if anyone has any idea even if a Linden reads and answers would be fine and great too. Why in the world would LL get rid of furries? That's just plain silly. The vast majority of furries that I've met are creative, helpful members of SL society. There's nothing wrong with being furry, or for that matter, a child av, an alien bug av, etc.

And yes, you can AR anyone who harasses ANYone, not just furries.

BTW, come to think of it, I've met several Lindens who are furries!

Why would they eliminate them? I've not even heard a hint of a rumor of eliminating animal likenesses.

As for offensive behavior the avatars in question are rather irrelevant. File an abuse report.

Be aware that land owners can set rules. If a land owner doesn't want furry things then the land owner is within their right to eject you/ban you.

I often find bumping into avatars and pushing them around is a completely accidental event that occurs because one of the two avatars just came into the area. Usually the pusher doesn't even see the other avatar in question. Furries, often having a lot of textures and prim add-ons others don't have, are often the last to appear.

Are you so sure this was an intended action specifically because of your choice in avatar or is this an assumption>?

they did that on purpose they were being rude and were pushing said avatar around thinking it would be a way to rile him up to have reason to react

That would be considered discrimination in my mind.

If you are harassed JUST for being a fur, AR them for intolerance.

If law (policy) abiding furries are not safe, then no one is.

Everyone had this same fear when the age play got banned. If furries end up the same way i will be one of those who refuse to take it off and gets banned for wearing it. If i gotta be put down, i might as well do something rebellious to show how wrong they are. If LL is smart they will investigate things before acting on them. Theres a difference between the real furry fandom and the stereotype that the griefers of PN and SA try to make us out to be.

We furries are the least of any problems with SL so i don't think it's going to happen. Especially since we have furry Lindens. I know they will have a voice in the matter. I been in SL since October of 2004, and I've been a fine upstanding resident who has never broken the TOS, except for once having a bad word in my profile which i removed. I've seen a lot in my time in SL, and i know the population of furries in SL is quite numerous.

Will LL get rid of furries or do anything about it, should you report abuse? Does discrimination still happen in RL, do the powers that be do anything about that, should they report it?

I doubt that LL will do away with furries, why? It would not make any sense. I do notice a lot of furry hate, and I believe yes you should report someone who abuses you!

I don't understand the Furry bashing thing. I have never seen it happen, only read about it here. Is it because people can't see your real skin colour or assume your religion that they are frusrated and need to be racist against somthing.

Us Furries have a convention IRL every year known as AnthroCon, where we get together and discuss our appreciation for cartoon animals and anthropomorphic beings. This year a hate group chose to protest outside it, you all know who they are because they widely attack SL wearing afros. I think we ruined it for them though, because i don't think anyone gave in to them. I think the leaders of anthrocon chased them off with kindness. I've been a furry about half of my life and i still don't understand the hatred against us. From my observation, they either don't know, they just hate it blindedly, or they hate the stereotype that MTV and CSI made us out to be (sex crazed maniacs who have sex with animals). Most furries i meet don't even have relations of any kind, and if they do, they do it with other humans portraying the role of a anthropomorphic being.

As far as Pittsburgh seems concerned, the Furries and Anthrocon, are very welcomed into the city.

I just saw the local news footage on YouTube. Me thinks I recognize some of them thar Furries- if they look anything in RL like their SL avatars.

I love furries ... I have some RL friends who are Furries and coordinate the annual Labor Day Furmet here locally.

I think this post is a waste of time (mine AND the originator). Why the heck would someone ban Furries? Are people just creating posts for the sake of making LL seem like a buch of ban-happy Nazis?

I saw it once happen from close.... on my land. The person who did so ended up my ban-list.I did not AR on request of those involved. But if it would have been up to me I would have ARed....

Of course, AR. AR each and every bump or push as a separate, ARable offense, because that is what they are. Let the rap sheet build. Go back andhelp them build their rap sheet higher. Have a party and celebrate if and when they finally get banned. Griefers are griefers.

I've heard and seen abusers harrassing furry avis with comments like "Your days are numbered you freak!", and it sickens me. It also makes my fists itch like crazy.

If someone doesn't like something or someone they see or meet...it's beyond me why they simply don't just LEAVE. Go to a happy, little whitewashed, picket-fenced, homogenous community where everyone looks, acts, thinks and feels EXACTLY as they do.

But don't ever just disregard another's fear or anxiety simply because you've never seen them being abused. It's the height of egotistical narrow-mindedness.

You can always make your own furries as they are just a mixture of attachments and textures. I can't think of any reason why LL would want to ban furries as some of the Lindens probably dress furry sometimes.

In my mind furries are nearly all humans dressed up in animal outfits anyway. I don't indulge in furriness myself - the nearest I get is putting on my plastic shiny green bear outfit - but I always stress that I am not a bear, just the normal humanoid me sweating away inside the hot stuffy costume.

True we do have furry lindens.

Do you think furry bashers had a bad experience as kids? Imagine this mum and dad (or some random guy she picked up) sat on the sofa in the trailer in a haze of pot smoke. Little Tommy breathing in the second hand smoke and getting completly wasted watching sesame street, in that situation i would be scarred for life by Bert and Earnie, then Mr Snuffleupagus comes on. FEK I'm freaked out thinking about it and i'm not smoking

I think the hate is caused because we are different. Thats what causes a lot of humanities hatred for each other. People sometimes fear what they don't understand. If they take the time to understand it, and not only listen to stereotypes they learn the truth they learn to deal with it.

Now thats deep. My tongue was firmly in cheek when i made my comment (not telling you who's cheek). I will quite happily smoke pot with the trailer trash and i don't mind if a furry humps my leg. i just think RL is far too serious at times and Sl should be a welcome relief from all the crap that goes on in the world.

The bulllies should lighten up, and like you say take time to understand people who are different you may find there not that much different. But there is 1 thing worse than the bullies and thats those street artists in vegas, the ones that follow you round mimicking everything you do. Now there freaky.
