I have a list of keyboard shortcuts, but I am wondering if there was a shortcut key to bring up the file menu at the top of the screen (File, Edit, View, World, Tools, Help)?
Thanks very kindly.

Control F10 activates the main menu.
So for the file menu, Control F10 F. For the Edit menu, Control F10 E. If you bring up the File menu with Control F10 F, you can't then get to the Edit menu by pressing E, like you can on standard Windows applications,;you have to press Control F10 again to make the File menu go away, then Control F10 E to produce the Edit menu. Or, if you have done Control F10 F and produced the File menu, you can press the right arrow key to get to the Edit menu. _____________________

I don't have the gesture active, I've changed its default shortcut, and STILL Control+F10 is being hogged by a gesture. Are there any other suggestions in how to deactive this default and return to being able to activate the menu? Thanks so much!!! _____________________

When you do Edit Gestures, or Ctrl-G, does Ctrl-F10 show in list of keys ?
I just used that to assign the Ctrl-F10 key to a gesture, and Ctrl-F10 did the gesture, now, using the Gesture editor again to change that gesture to not having a keypress shortcut, thus unassigning the Ctrl-F10 key, makes the Ctrl-F10 key once again activate the menu. I'm trying to remember if there is a Debug Settings value connected with this. _____________________

Yes, Ctrl+F10 shows up as "/embarassed" for the trigger, and then "Loading..." for the name, since I no longer have /embarassed associated with Ctrl+F10. Whenever I click Edit on the bottom of the Gesture screen (with /embarassed selected) nothing pops up (unlike other items in the list). Is there a hack to get rid of this or edit the gesture shortcuts? LOL Just FYI, I'm writing a voice command macro pack for users of Dragon NaturallySpeaking (like myself, for reasons of disability) and would love to use keyboard keys to trigger the main menu (as not everything has a shortcut). Thanks much! _____________________

Just to make sure, are you using version: Second Life 1.13.3 (2) Jan 30 2007 15:34:24 as shown in the Help About Second Life message box?

I perhaps should warn you that despite my tech background, strange things happen on my PC. ![]() I have not tweaked settings so it shouldn't be this different from others. Hmmmn. Well, while I appreciate the assistance, I don't blame you if you throw your hands up at this one. It's... odd. I don't mind hacking files though. Thanks. Lucrezia _____________________

Have you clicked the column header for Keys in the gesture editor to sort them by key to make sure you don't have more than one gesture assigned to the Ctrl-F10 key? (which shouldn't be possible but umm, well, this is SL after all....)
There's a comment about the Ctrl-F10 key in the blog, "You can still use Ctrl+F10 to access the menus from the keyboard. (Although if you have a gesture bound to Ctrl+F10, it will trigger the gesture instead.)" at http://blog.secondlife.com/?s=f10 . This isn't related to the menu activation question, but there is an old shortcut guide in the knowledgebase at http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=075 . Hmm, maybe activate the deactivated gesture that had Ctrl-F10 assigned, then unassign Ctrl-F10 while leaving the gesture active. Hmm, where is the gesture info stored our computers, or is stored at LL's end of things? _____________________

I even swapped activation and then attempted to unassign etc. Then I tried every other variation I could think of. No matter what I do, the Trigger is stuck, and Name continues to say "Loading..." while the /embarassed gesture is played every time I press Ctrl+F10. I am... scratching my head. Oh and thanks for the keyboard shortcut list! Lucrezia _____________________
