First things first. Have you downloaded the program? I've found that the website does not exactly make it clear that using Second Life requires a program separate from your web browser. If you haven't downloaded the client, you can download it here: http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.phpOnce you've done that, the rest of your questions will be more easily answered. First welcome to SL. Please understand the following answer may seem a bit short, but it is information you will find very very useful to have a good experience in SL. Well this is a fairly big post as you seem to basically be asking us to answer every single thing about SL. Have you read any of the information available on the website yet? In order to use Second Life, first you must install it on your computer, download from: http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.phpFor common information such as using SL, most answers can be found by reading: http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/Also, you might want to actually look through the many many posts here on this very forum. For the millions of residents that have come before you have pretty much asked every feasable question possible at least once, so it is pretty much a gaurantee that if you have a question, it has been posted before and answered before...at least 1 time Most importantly: Search is your friend...this means that any time you have a question...before posting on the forums use the search feature located at the top of the forums. As I said any question related to SL, and even some that have absolutely nothing to do with it can be found using the search feature....If after trying search and looking through the knowledgebase, you can't seem to find the answer, then please feel free to post here and hopefully a nice resident will answer. Again, this is not meant to be short, but people will be more helpful when they see the person asking questions has made an attempt to find the information for themselves versus asking a question on here that has been answered a thousand times before. Welcome again and good luck in SL.

To make a few linden dollars when you are new, click on the "Search" button and select "Places". Type in "money tree". Teleport to place with money trees and pick money from them. You might have to teleport to a number of them to find ones with anything in them.

Please also keep in mind that there can be a fairly significant learning curve with SL...depending on how much time you spend in world, it may be weeks or even months before you feel comfortable with your skills and knowledge. Do put some effort into figuring things out for yourself, since you're likely to remember the answer better that way, but don't be afraid to ask for help if you absolutely can't find what you need. Most of all, have fun!

yes i have logged for about day and a half now. it is true you need to do it rather read about it there is so much to do and learn....and it great, I felt really at home in help island but I thought it was about time to go into the real world, but yes it is great, and it nice to meet people, I would say to meet people in help land first as you can get nice and comty there, the only problem I have is people speaking to me at the same time using "ib or im""?? and chat box.. that is strange!!! and I feel that I need a dictonary though as i not that great at spelling, but people can understand though...
Only thing is these volunteer helpers aren't really around when you hit help island, that would be nice. it says they are but it turns out to be other newbies there lots of conversations i "hear" about people not knowing what to do but at the same time it does band new people togeather, though some are abit quick to offer friendship, especially when it means they can track you... but maybe I just that nice lol but anyho love it so far and I got to go introduct some outside friends...
