Those are the only ones that I know of, honestly. *shrugs*
I am thinking that the 'authorization' has more to do with 'can't afford to ban them,' rather than actually giving approval ![]() I note that SLSmart has a link to buy currency. Note: I did say buy.. not sell, which is quite unlike the other two. _____________________

I don't think there is really any such thing as an "authorized" Linden dollar exchange. The most important part of doing business with a 3rd party exchange is to be sure that they are using Risk, and complying fully with its Terms of Use for each transaction. In looking around at the few "top" sites, this doesn't seem to be made clear, and I think these exchanges probably should state somewhere prominently on their site that they are using it.
Beyond that, it really doesn't appear that many have ventured into the business. I would imagine the startup costs are probably pretty substantial, prohibitive for many. _____________________

There's no such thing as an "authorized" third-party currency exchange:
5.2 Other service or product providers may form contractual relationships with you. Linden Lab is not a party to your relationship with such other providers. All Linden Lab is doing is providing links to other providers of currency exchange services. However, a link, in and of itself, is not an endorsement. |

I believe the trusted list was done away with, with the advent of the lindex...

I think these exchanges probably should state somewhere prominently on their site that they are using it. The only thing that would really work is for LL to publish a list of exchanges that have been approved for the RISK API with the usual boilerplate "we're not responsible for anything blah blah". |

However, a link, in and of itself, is not an endorsement. That is not true. there was a list of atleast 3 as i remeber atleast 1 year ago or so. As I recall. And to be correct it was published on the LLABS website in buying Linden Monies..... What you like the link in the this web site was about? If it appears on the website its looked at as "OK" to buy from ( at that time)......... Usagi |

Do you have the a list of the links or a url of LL that provides the links? Nope. I sure don't (and I looked). Your post is seeking "authorized resellers" and there's no such thing (which the Terms of Service make clear). It used to be a link on this page: Marketplace http://secondlife.com/whatis/marketplace.php |

I checked the marketplace page and it says:
"Residents who have amassed lots of Linden Dollars are matched with residents who want to buy Linden Dollars at LindeX (our official Linden Dollar exchange), or at other unaffiliated third-party exchanges." Now I wonder if anyone has used any of these exchanges? I googled them and found several, some with worse rates than LL and some with Better Rates! |

A lot of people use SL Exchange, which uses the Risk API and is generally considered a trustworthy source. I know many people use Anshe, who is considered trustworthy but gives you a pretty bad exchange rate. _____________________

Lets say in in another term.....those offsite location where Endorsed by LLABS at a time. Hence why they were even located on this site to start with ( LINKED). At the moment your playing with tech terms and phase.......Its pasted history what happened a year or so ago.......so just give that up. It now assumed LLABS doesnt not support these sites as they once did........... Usagi |

While anyone can sell Lindens outside the game, they still need to be transferred from seller to buyer in game.
Things that can go wrong: You pay the seller on their web site but they don't transfer anything in game to you. The seller tries to transfer to the buyer but the transaction is lost by SL (too much lag at the time). Everything works properly through ebay/sl but the buyer retracts their cc payment. The seller has bought their Lindens on a bad cc and after transfer to the buyer LL take those Lindens back from the buyer, plus a penalty. So you need a reliable seller. |

when LL ran GOM out of business, the 3rd Party exchanges were put at a disadvantage.
But their tight trading limits, especially for new account holders, brought back competition. I think there WERE 2 endorsed sites before LindenX: GOM and IGE They even used to post a GOM graphs on this website. What I think the OP really wants to know, is where can people buy money and not get banned for it. (or have money taken away) Ebay definitely is risky. Maybe someone who knows the ins and outs of why people are getting banned or having money taken away can explain whats happening there. |

As I understand it, a lot of the eBay sellers obtained their L$ fraudulently (stolen credit cards, etc.)
If you buy L$ from such a seller, LL holds you culpable as well, and if the fraud is spotted, will take away your L$ plus up to a 50% penalty. On the other hand, it would be perfectly OK to buy L$ from anyone (the First Bank of Lindal, for example) as long as the seller was selling you legitimately-obtained L$. I use Lindex and SLExchange, and have not had any problems. |

My friend couldn't buy Linden Dollars here a couple weeks ago so went to a site called sltreasures and purchased 20k L . He had 15k Lindens left in his account, LL took that and he has a negative balance of 5k now for penalty buying from sltreasures. WTF? I don't understand why he is being punished for purchasing L $, why not go after sltreasures? |
