Hi all,
Second Life is like the real world, and has also advertisements ingame.
What do you think about it ? Is it annoying, does it make the game realistic. Should there be more advertisements and billboards? What is your opinion !

Should there be more advertisements and billboards? What is your opinion ! I don't mind it, as long as it's for in-world (or linked to the world: Snapzilla, SLExchange) goods and services, and isn't too garish/poorly placed/etc. Of course, just like the rest of the world, I don't wanna see billboards everywhere. Although I have toyed with the idea of selling a few 'billboard hoarding' spaces around my plot, I so far haven't because I do find most SL advertising obtrusive.
Spinning cubes 50m above the ground advertising something or another, or even just "Land for sale" are annoying far more than a proper billboard at ground level, looking at least vaguely realistic. For me, the important thing is that it blends in to the surroundings. For example, on the side of our Stratics HQ in Rosieri, facing the road, is an illuminated sign advertising it's Stratics, as there is above the front door. Compare that to a 10m cube spinning in the middle of nowhere that bears absolutely no relevance to the surroundings, and it's plain to see that there is a big difference. Although the advertising revenue might well be useful, I really cannot convince myself that disfiguring the landscape in that way is honestly going to be an inprovement to the environment that I have carefully constructed there.
