a newbie trying to talk to me, saying this:
slt
and nothing else.
then the newbie tps away.
anyone got any idea what "slt" could mean?
i mean, i know "asl"... "age sex location"... but slt?

The only meaning I know, personally, is 'Second Life Time' meaning West Coast US time, where the LL HQ is located.
Also, according to Google, it's short for 'Salut'. Are you in a French area?

As in PST, Pacific Standard Time, or daylight savings time (PDT). *and once again I open 80 tabs, and so when I answer, no other posts, but 2 minutes later than answer post; I no helpy; and I got it wrong, hehe, I meant PST, not WST . . hehe*

SLT as others have mentioned is often used to refer to Pacific Standard or Daylight Time (PST/PDT) which is the time we see in-world. It used to be the official abbreviation used by LL themselves (maybe even coined by them, not sure) but after they got tired of people asking "what's SLT mean?" they officially dropped it's use and changed the viewers clock to read PDT (or PST depending on season). Many of us geriatric cases (who joined when the term was still in common use) got very used to calling it SLT and still use it in preference to the RL PD/ST.

Google is wonderful: In French they do use it as an abbreviation for salut! (hi) - and since lots of noobs were saying it to you, that is what I would guess they were meaning (noobs would not know anything about SLT meaning Second Life Time)
