Texture Problems?

OK, here's a new one tonight. I've got this french door alpha texture that I have used before, on french doors before, in a previous house, and in this house.

Tonight, though, the thing decides to do several odd things. First, the texture slides itself over to .500.

But worse, it won't flip. It will not flip 180 degrees - such that the handle is on the left side of the door, rather than the right.

Instead, it appears to be flipping to a mirror image of itself, but STILL in place - with the handle still on the right side. It will flip top to bottom, but not side to side.

Now there's no way, all of a sudden, to get the handle on the left side.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Is there something really dumb I'm just not thinking of, for some reason, that I'm all of a sudden not doing right?

you might have to flip it and then re-upload it. L$10, but your headache will be gone.

Never mind - logging out and back in seems to have fixed it for now. (Should have tried that first!) Guess it's just One of Those Things.

It sounds like your cache could have also been getting errors. Next time, try clearing your cache also.

OK, will do.

Which brings up another question: I click "clear cache" fairly often before I log on, yet most of the time, it seems to do nothing.

Then - every once in a while - it spends some time "clearing cache" before it lets me log on, when I DIDN'T click for it to do that.

What's up with that?

Well, you shouldn't really notice anything happening when you clear your cache. All it is doing is removing all of your temp files that have been downloaded. They are mainly textures, I think. And I am also not completely sure when it clears the cache when you tell it to, it may be that it doesn't clear it until the next time that the viewer is launched.

It clears the cache the next time you log in (the little dialogue box tells you that). The first thing I do when I log on is to check clear cache so that tomorrow or the next time I log on the cache will be cleared. I see the "clearing cache" message everytime I log in. Sometimes it takes a while to clear and sometimes it's pretty fast.

Well, that's what I thought.

But when it says, "clearing cache" (and it rarely says that), it isn't correlated with the fact that I asked it to the previous time.

Maybe you have to ask it to while you are in the game! Cause I rarely do it that way. I'll test that.

When you clear cache it's secretly removing all negative thoughts you might have about LL re failed: search, teleporting, rezzing, texture use, character baking, attachments, etc.

That's why I never clear cache anymore
