1. Can anyone tell me where to get a translator? And are there any issues with them?
2. What, exactly is a HUD?
3. Is there a way to change the posted time In World so that it all corresponds with ones own timezone?
4. Is there a pose ball or something that allows one partner to "lead", or is there just the individual "dance balls"?
I do most of my info search while at work, so if this is already posted, I am sorry.
THX in advance.

Aph Don't know about translators, but HUD is a Heads Up Display From Wiki:"A head-up display, also known as a heads-up display or HUD, is any transparent display that presents data without obstructing the user's view. Although they were initially developed for military aviation, HUDs are now used in commercial aircraft, automobiles, and other applications" As far as Danceballs go, I'm guessing the Blue "Male" balls would lead? Not sure though.

Sl is contained in one timezone - which corresponds to PST - so it would just be a nightmare if you were able to change the timezones to suit you.
It's far better to just work out what the offset is from PST to your particular timezone and calculate it in your head on-the-fly.
For 2.00pm SLT... MST is one hour ahead of PST (3.00pm) CST is two hours ahead of PST (4.00pm) EST is three hours ahead of PST (5.00pm) GMT (UK) is eight hours ahead of PST (10.00pm)
Need any more?

Broccoli Oh, no...I can do the math for a 3 hr difference. But with a 6 and 8 year old in the house, I seem to be showing up an hr early or late. THX

BST at the moment Are there any add ons that show the time locally? In WoW I could have a clock setting for my locality, the world time still showed in their time but I had my own local clock.

Broccoli There are watches uou can buy, Steinwerks comes to mind that actually work and can be adjusted to whatever timezone you want. They also come with an HUD that is adjustable also.

I use this website for working out times: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/It allows you to set up a Personal World clock, with your timezone, and another one (since LL is based in San Francisco, use that time as SLTime), and has the facility to convert any given date and time to your local time equivalent. Allows for Daylight Savings Time, too... As for translators, I usually use Babelfish: http://babelfish.altavista.com/Just copy the text, and paste it into the box. It doesn't work on Romanized Japanese or Chinese, though; you need to paste in the characters. There used to be an inworld device you could wear called Babbler, that automatically translated text into one of a few languages, using the google translation system, but I believe google blocked that and made it unusable (if it works again, I'd love to know...Jolly useful, that was) A HUD in an SL context is any little user interface thing that appears on your screen, that you can click on to affect your avatar or an attachment. The most 'famous' is probably the Xcite HUD that controls your Xcite 'bits', but you can get ones that change your av's facial expression, or the animations of your avatar, amongst other things. As far as danceballs go; depends what you mean. The club-type dance ball that usually hovers, that you click on and it animates your av into doing the same dance as anyone else; no, you can't 'lead' with that. The paired pink and blue poseballs that you can 'sit' on and control your av in one dance; then they usually stick to the convention that the 'male' (blue) poseball leads the dance. The same convention generally applies for more mature animations too...

Babelfish is useful for working out what someone is saying to you, it's not quite so good for saying something back to someone in that language.

Inworld tranlator is called Babbler and the one that translates what someone says to you is called the deBabbler. They are made by the extraordinarily generous resident Max Case; a good example of someone who uses his super scripting powers for good.
The Babbler is free and works a good part of the time. You can also give it to whom you are speaking for free.
I also use the google translator with the cut and paste method and its not bad if your computer can handle having Firefox and SL running at the same time.

THX I don't know where you can get one in-world but if you have an SL Exchange account, you can get one here: - http://slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=138377

From: Ciaran Laval BST at the moment Not at all. GMT -is- eight hours ahead of PST. BST is eight hours ahead of PDT. It's all fine, apart from the week or so each year after GMT has changed to BST but before PST has changed to PDT...
