Can't login?

I can get so far as to enter my password, then SL starts to work, then stops half way up the loading bar!

Does anyone have the same problem, or is it just me?

If it is me, I will try to sort put my PC trouble, but if it is others as well, I will leave things alone, and log on in a couple of days.

Just to add, when the loading bar comes up, I get the message-
connecting to region-
then that is it, the games just refuses to load.

Happened to me a few times....had to wait for 5 mins. then it would load.

If you are still having problems, try connecting to a different sim. At the login screen, to go preferences, general, and check the box next to "Show Start Location on Login Screen." Leave preferences and go to the pulldown. Chose another location, like Pooley or Oak Grove.

Sometimes it happens to me too. Usually means the sim I was connecting to is a bit off kilter, so changing start locations helps!

Tried everything suggested, still the same thing happens!
I have emailed for support, but am still waiting for a reply.
I have not been able to play SL, for 2 days now, so something else must be wrong.
I am not barred from the game or anything either.
I can't understand it.
Does anyone please know, if I reinstall the game, will I lose my clothes, objects and money?
I could try installing over the top of the version I have, and not uninstall the game and start again.
I would hate to lose my stuff, as I have bought loads of nice clothes and got loads of free stuff and don't want to start from scratch, with a new avatar.

Reinstalling will not lose you any of your things. All your things are recognised by the server and will all still be there when you get back on. Reinstalling will, however, restore all your settings to default, but thats no biggy, just change them back again. Good luck

Your money, clothes, etc are all stored server side, so don't worry about that.

You can try uninstalling and reinstalling SL, that may work.

Was there something else you may have changed that have caused this? Did you update a firewall? Install a virus scanner or updated one? Change any network settings or anything like that?

Also, if you just let it sit on the loading bar, what part does it get stuck on? What happens if you just let it sit there until it does something on its own?

When the bar is loading, it gets as far as saying-

Then just stays there. It won't go any further.
I do keep the pc"clean" by regularly running cleaning software, that empties cookies and temp files, and finds and removes any left over bits. This may have removed something that the game needs?
It may be a change in settings, when the new monitor was installed, as we have been messing about with the colours and settings.
My son can still playl his game (Warcraft), so my graphics and memory are OK.
I am glad to hear I can uninstall the game, and not lose my items, phew !
I will have a go tomorrow, and let you know how I get on.

This game is my bit of ME time, after the kids have gone to bed.

Yeah i feel you there, and i cant get on myself right now either so im just as frustrated. Ive been gettin the same "System is still logging you out, your account wont be accesible until date/time" for the past hour and more after i wanted to relog. And not even waiting the suggested 15 minutes is gettin me anywhere....everytime i try it just adds another 5 minutes to the time it says i can get back on....ugh!

Ooh it is annoying when you can't get on this game!
When I try to get on, then it gets stuck on the loading bar, when I turn the game off, i get the message-
Not responding.
I have just now, reinstalled the game, over the one on already, and it still doesn't work!
So I will now uninstall completley, and clear all temp files, cookies what have you, than put it back on.
Hope it works, as I am getiing fed up of messing about, and spending more time trying to fix it and getting nowhere.
I emailed support a coupled of weeks ago for help, when I got a strange noise when I walked. I have only just got a reply.
(I did get help through contact a linden, live in the game though)

Have you run a traceroute to the data centers? (sorry, I forgot the IP they use, maybe someone here can help?) It is possible that somehow the IPs of sims may have been blacklisted. It sounds like everything is good, except for the connection with the sim.

I have just uninstalled the game, cleared everything up, reinstalled the game,and it is still doing the same thing!
I will find how to do a traceroute, Thankyou for the help.
Typing other regions does not work either.

FINALLY GOT IN !!!
I backed up all my data (needed to anyway) and wiped my PC!
That did the trick.
A bit drastic, for a game,it did need clearing up anyway, as my kids play games too, and there are always things left on the PC.
