I wanted to help a friend position a piece of jewelry while she was wearing it. She checked the box to allow me to edit her objects, but I could not select or edit the jewelry. Is this not possible, or is there some trick to it?

I have helped people position things by using a copy of their shape on myself (not pretty when I wear it usually) and have them give me the object(if it is transferrable). Once i have it positioned on myself using their shape i take it back into my inventory and then send it back to them.
*correction* I take it back into my inventory then wear it again to make sure SL didn't lag out and actually saved the new position. Then i send it back to them.
