I was toying with making one, and have been slowing inching the height up from 80... to 90... to 95... but it's really hard to tell by just looking around me what the "ideal" or "average" height is for male avs.
For women the average appears to be 60? perhaps 65?
Or am I mistaken?

I'm not sure about the height in terms of the sliders, but if you check avatar height against an avatar ruler you'll see that the average height of a male in SL is around the 7'0" mark and the average female height around 6'6".

I know my slider value is 60 and I think that's... 6'7"?

My avatar (female) is 5'6". She is a complete midget in most of the "normal" areas.
