Animations -> Gesture question

Hi. I bought some animations just now, but am having problems turning them into Gestures/shortcuts (one of the animations had a Gesture with it, but the others didn't). I know how to create a New Gesture, but the problem is when I click the drag-down "Animation to play" thing, my new animations don't appear there. I've tried moving them into the Gestures folder (from Animations) to make them appear, but nothing. Is there any place they should be for them to appear in this list? Thanks.

Edit: I also bought Keiki Lemieux's "Casual Stride" - is there a way to turn this into my default walk, as when I play it as an animation, even when I'm not walking, it walks on the spot.

You have to have full permissions on the animations to use them in gestures. Of course, no commerical animator is going to want to give full modify/copy/transfer rights, understandibly so.

Is there anyway to make shortcuts for animations then (F1-10)? So that if I want to cross my arms, I don't have to go into my bloated inventory, right click, and activate it? Thanks for your help.

To use a custom animation for walking and such you need an AO device. Several are free; I like ZHAO.

As for fast access to animations without hunting for them in your inventory, you mentioned Keiki. Well, she sells an item quick HUDDLES or something like that which puts a line of buttons on your screen and you can set animations to the buttons.

Quick 'top ten' or so of your favourite things, animations, landmarks, attachments .... make a folder in inventory called summat like *favs*. This puts it near the top if sorted alphabetically. Always there when you open the inventory or easy to navigate to if already there :)

Sorry to jump in on your thread Theodore, but I too have the same question about making a purchased walk your default one...!

Johan you mentioned above that you need an AO device - I am really sorry but I am really new to this and so don't even know what AO stands for. Could you please explain and also how do I get one?

TIA

Hello again Barrowness, plenty of more informed folks here but basicly an Animation Overide is an attachment I believe. It acts as a shell to contain gestures and/or animations for a complete set of alternative moves to the standard ones. I'm sure any AO will have explicit instructions bundled with them :)

Hi Bilbo99

So do I have to buy an AO then to be able to make my purchased walk my default?

ahh .. rapidly reaching the boundary of my knowledge here LOL Some AOs come with some preset poses but I'm sure even for one with a preset walk you can .. override it .. or it wouldn't be an override ;)
I'd try the freebie that Johan suggested .. might be just what you want or at least give you a grounding in the area :)

Ok thanks - one last question for now.....

Do I just type ZHAO in the search bar in world to find this then?

Many thanks

Fingers crossed Search is working .. was doing me sterling work last night :)
If you search 'places' you won't get people whose names have those letters but then 'All' might reveal something interesting too lol

I'm pretty sure you can find a free AO at one of the freebie palaces (Gnubie, YadNI's, Free Dove) because I went out and bought one before I knew that, and now I have several :(

They come with a notecard of explanations and a script into which you pop the name of the animation you wish to use, then you drag the animation itself into the contents folder of the AO (hope I have this right)

Good luck! (I still haven't figured all this out, either) ;)
