Since yesterday afternoon have not been able to upload textures, rez objects, or delete them. Tried in 3 geographically diverse sims. I see elsewhere in the forum that this is still an issue after the update. Only news from Lindens is this blog post w/no comments: http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/06/12/intermittent-asset-issues/

Does anyone know if there is a JIRA report on this? I couldn't find one, but there are several more technical reports re:inventory and deleting/rezzing, and I don't know if any of them relate to these problems.

The blog post would seem to indicate that this is an operations rather than code issue, but I would have thought that all operations issues would be cleared away during the update.

Also, if you are inworld and NOT seeing these issues in some sandbox, please post location. I need to build something tonite! :)

Thanks Alicia, rezzing is working for you? YAY! I only have 4 small prims, will be inworld in 2 hours SL permitting. If I can upload the textures but rezzing still not working I'll send you an IM then. If you won't be aruond then, if you could send your LM that would be great, thanks!

Just went inworld, can rez and upload, delete is intermittent for me. Anyone concerned, vote for reopened bug SVC-242. Also see thread:

Just a note on the ghost prim bug (SVC-242). I think the current asset server borkage is a different problem, but one that triggers the ghost prim bug. In JIRA, a Linden comments that it occurs when an asset server glitches during taking or deleting an item. More asset server glitches -> more ghost prims.

In other words, I think the ghost prim bug will continue on even after the asset server is fixed, just on a lesser scale. :(

A little summary for those not sure if SVC-242 is the bug they are having:
The ghost prim / 0,0,0 bug uses up your prim allowance with invisible "selected/sat upon" items and causes permanent loss of no-copy items. Items may be visible at the region's 0,0,0 point, and non-phantom items can seem solid (though invisible) at the original location. In most cases a sim restart is required to remove the ghost prims, but there is no way to get no-copy items back.

If this has affected you, vote on JIRA to get it fixed:
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-242

(The entry title specifies "copy" items, but this entry now applies to "no-copy" items too.)

asset servers have been screwed for months
this only has started become a problem like 3 weeks ago and growing to unacceptable situation right now

yes, befor there were losses, hikups and issues aswell, but it crashed back then alot
what ever they have done in the last month has made it worse and worse

no excuse that the server crash alot, screw new features and put the entire team to track down this shit as it`s worse then critical/blocker/stopper/what ever, this is getting out of control
