The sandbox areas are No weapons, No sell areas.
Shouldn't that include gambling machines too?

I dislike gambling so I rezzed a cube around a few gambling machines to the owners displeasure. I don't think they should be allowed in sandbox areas where no selling is signposted.
Are gambling machines selling gambling?

Hi Kornscope

Without knowing all the details I probably shouldn't comment, so here's my 2 Lindens worth [G] ...

If the gambling machines were being built in the sandbox, it was quite proper to have them there.

In any event, rezzing cubes around them put you at risk of being labelled a griefer. The proper course of action would have been to IM the owner of the sandbox (or contact Live Help if it was a public sandbox), if you felt the rules were being breached.

If all else fails, and it's a problem for you, it might be better to find another sandbox. I would suggest a private one: the owner is more likely to be around and keener to enforce the rules of his/her domain. Some time ago, I was attacked in a private no-weapons sandbox. When I picked myself up from the sim in a galaxy far away where the trigger-happy jerk had sent me, LOL, I IM'd the owner of the sandbox; about a minute later the gunslinger had been banned from the place.

People can legitimately build gambling machines in a sandbox - although most are "no script" so it's only cosmetic work they can do anyway.

But when they have finished, they should not leave them there.

Sandboxes are usually set as "no sales" either, which includes gambling.

If you see a slot machine or similar sitting in a sandbox with the owner nowhere in sight... drop Live Help a call and someone will come and deal with it for you.

I've seen several people with "out of the box casinos" that they just dump in a sandbox and think it's perfectly ok to use that land instead of paying a monthly fee to own land.

One thing common to all sandboxes... is that they are just building spaces. Very few people grasp this concept, and leave their stuff all over the place, taking up the room that other people should be able to use for their projects. It's only common decency, after all, to tidy up after yourself.

I think LL should start penalizing people who leave their crap behind in sandboxes. How many inconsiderate folks leave a sandbox full of litter every day? It's horrible!!

The "making up other people's minds" comment notwithstanding, gambling objects ARE profit-making devices, and should NOT be left active in sandboxes.

However, it's been quite clearly stated by the Lindens that vigilante justice is NOT tolerated in SL. This would include rezzing prims over the top of slot machines.

If there's a slot machine in the sandbox, and it's active, and the creator is not around, then AR it. That is our only recourse under the rules.

Is it "making up someone's mind for them" if you try to stop a child from stealing candy at the corner mini-mart? An illegal or unethical act should not be tolerated by anyone, anywhere.

Leaving slot machines (or whatever they were) in public sandboxes is very much against the rules. This is not a matter of making up someone else's mind as it is attempting to prevent a very flagrant violation of the rules.

Using a sandbox as a way to try to make money against the rules. Slot machines, venders, and items for sale in sandboxes should be reported.
