And when they're not in your store and off gadding about it would be nice if they promoted your enterprise.
Offer them a small percentage of sales.

The best wage is the one the employee agreed to.

I employed someone for a while...about a month in total, a meet and greet sales type person. I paid them a percentage on everything that sold during the hours they were working. To be honest they didnt do allot for my business, sales remained as constanst as when they were not in my store working so in the end I gave them the boot. I now employ someone on a part time basis to do stuff outside of my business, i.e. to find me items in world that I cannot be bothered to look for, mainly textures, scripts etc and also to monitor and report on my competition's business and products, both to find out what they are doing and also to find out if any of my designs have been copied. They also do other stuff like first contacts for customers wanting custom builds (which screen out the time wasters) and as they learn more about building I will get them to start reponding to customer enquiries and providing support. I have kind of taken this person as my apprentice but I am taking it slowly. As my trust grows I will involve them more in business. This person works 2 hours per day, 5 days per week and I pay them L$500 per hour so works out about 20K per month. I think that rate is proly above average for SL but gives you some idea. If I were you I would spy on your staff to begin with. Mystery shopper them with an alt to make sure they are doing the job right. Hope that helps.
