I have just purchased a new plot of land. I can hear something that sounds like opera or medieval church music. It is not loud, but one short clip repeats ad nauseum. I have removed the music URL from my land. I can't tell exactly where it's coming from. I don't think it's something left over from a previous owner. I don't want to bother the person playing the music. Can anyone think of a way I can keep my neighbors' music off my land without interfering with them?
Thanks in advance,
Kathy

Go into About Land / Media and check the box that says "Restrict spatialized sound"

sounds like a soundclip in a prim if its not on your land its on the neighbours land hehe and they have the volume on it set high in the script. If you have cleared your land and its empty its likely on their land. Its possibly some guy left it just to bug you and you could contact a linden to find it for you and dig it up but honestly its probably just on the neighbours land and no you can't turn it off so you have to ask them to fix the script settings so it doesn't hit your parcel (which if you have a nasty neighbour the answer will be no ..) try it though hehe spacialized sound works for that? hrm i have been putting up with annoying western piano music for 2 months lol i thought it was to restrict my sound not theirs

SL isn't letting me log in right now. I'll try that as soon as I can get online. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi! I think I am your neighbour! I don't think the sound is coming from my place as I have 'The Edge' rock station streamed to my land but it stops as soon as I step off it. I haven't noticed the church music sound but I'll listen out next time I'm in-world. There could be something in the sky emitting the sound, of course - the sky around our area is quite full of objects! I don't have any objects of my land with scripted sound. It could be one of the other neighbouring plots, I suppose.

The spatialized sound setting appears to have fixed it. I knew that would prevent any music that I had going from annoying my neighbors, but I didn't know it would work both ways. Thanks! BTW, Conifer, yes, you're my neighbor! ::waves:: I didn't think it was coming from your property. In fact, I couldn't hear it when I was in your yard. You're probably right about one of those signs.

From: Kathryn Mahoney The spatialized sound setting appears to have fixed it. I was going out of my mind hearing a horrible grinding noise and finally tracked it down to a motorcyle on a neighborning plot of land. It was trapped in a ditch and running at full throttle to nowhere. I IM'd the owner with the location of the obnoxious noise maker, but she simply giggled, so I ended up using the spatialize sound feature to save my sanity. Thank god for that option or I might have comitted AVicide.
