XStreet Stupid Reviews

So, I sell a few things on XSL. Someone bought one of my products today and left a review... That was completely skewed. It seemed like he didn't read the description, look at the picture, or look at the demo I provided.

He assumed it would do something, then when it didn't, he left a terrible review. Since it's the only review I have, that just makes my item look bad.

Anyone know a way to "correct", reply to, or remove a review once it's there?

I had a similar experience. I have been on XStreet since early last year and its still the only review I have. While its not awful, its not great either. I think the purchaser expected a 500 dollar item, I think, when the charge was actually 150.

I didn't worry too much about it, nor did it affect my sales, which aren't huge anyway.

I don't know how to change it, nor would I really want to, overall I think the review system is a good idea.

Sorry, this isn't really an answer to your question, but just an offer of comfort.

When I'm shopping I read reviews and creator replies, but take things with a grain of salt. Reply, and maybe reword your description if necessary.

This is a common-enough problem that there's an entire article about what to do, here:

Also, from the Merchants FAQ (reachable from the Help button on any XStreet page):

"Item discussions may be deleted by the merchant after 30 days."...which doesn't help with a review, but I have seen the merchant post in Discussion about the issue, and the person who posted the review come back and change their review.

Worth a try, anyway.

When I've had a poor review, it's always been because the person expected something different. I always contact them, refund them, and if what they wanted was something I can offer, give them that. This results in an edited customer review.

Then I go back to my listing and edit the description to make it more clear... such as "animations not included" etc.

maybe it was bad to him. how you know what he was thinking did you ask him , sound like to me you just assumed what he thought it might do. but if your work all that great. what you got to worry about ?

Delist the item.

Or, heck, delist all your items while you're at it. It's a popular pastime these days. ;)

I read reviews & tend to make my purchase decision based on them, altho I know at times its customer error. If I were you I would contact them & do whatever you can to change their opinion, even if it means refunding their money. And then discuss with them that they amend their review more favorably.

I have a dollarbie on xstreet that seems to be popular and well liked...nothing fancy just cuteness...one day a newish resident left a really spiteful remark and it stung me :(
They hadnt read the description and had tried to wear the item not rez it...I decided to contact them, and offer a few of the not-dollarbie fairies and to let them know it wasnt wearable etc..they were VERY rude and aggressive...changed the review and said i had "harrased them"...yes I suppose i did harras them with the offer of free gifts ..

I think its best to grin & bear it...hard to do though

I think expecting gratitude from someone who gives a bad review to a freebie is a lost cause. A bad review on a freebie says more about the buyer than the seller IMO.

My attempts to contact him have been completely ignored, thought that would be interesting to mention.

Give it a few days. There are people for whom SL is a 'once in a while' thing...or he could be on vacation, or have computer problems, or....
