I have had this error message pop up several times now. What happens is you drag an object out of your inventory onto your land where you want to place it, it disapperars out of the inventory but dosnt appear in-world, and then you get the error message. The object is lost and dosnt return to the "lost and found" folder either. I have lost several expensive items in this manner and so have my tenants on 2 separate islands. Live help once found some items under the island in the SW corner but in other instances nothing was found and they just said report a bug. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The cliche response from a Help Request person in this case would be to clear your cache and relog. When you return and your inventory reloads, the item may be back. I think (someone correct me and give the correct coordinates if I'm mistaken) that if you search for the item at 0,0,0 on the land it happened on, you may find it. You might have to ask the land owner to look there and auto return it. As a last resort you can contact the creator of the lost item and politely request a new copy of it. Explain to them the error you received; it is quite common in SL these days.

Yes, check with the owner at 0,0,0. I had 150 prims on his land when I had that problem. I have that problem now. a fountain disappeared after attempting to rez failed. Now I have lost prims under "Select / Sat Upon". SL needs to make an option where the owner can send back to inventory themselves.
