Hi i have been in SL for a few months now and i think my business is somewhat stable enough (i think) to rent a 512, my question is, does having land and have a store to sell my stuff better than just selling on slexchange? or do i have to rent land PLUS advertise in-world in order to make it affective?

any comments are appreciated :)

thank you

I think that all depends on what your selling, some things that need to be seen or demo'ed to be appreciated fully may do well in a space customers can see and or try out your product.

Everyone is different. This is my experience in trying to flog a couple of houses and some terraforming equipments. My stuff has notecard dispensers and I get emailed with reports showing who they were dispensed to (ppl have to click on the box to get them). I price my goods slightly differently in different parts of sl so I can see where things got sold.

1. The 4 x 4 blocks of land are hopeless.

2. Vendor space is great for getting notecards out.

3. I sell 90% of my beacons and mappers on slexchange.

4. I sell 90% of my houses from my display space on a private sim.

5. I hope to improve my house sales by allowing others to sell good furniture in my display area.

Having land means you show up in Search for what, a mere $L 30 per week or something, and $L 50 per week in Classifieds if you like.

Usually, that's a good move.

Land by itself, well. If you are completely depending on flyover traffic, you are generally gonna be in trouble.

Forum classifieds are a good thing; link to your land with your signature and a picture as well, if you can.

That's a good idea. Link your signature to whatever you're selling. Marketing at it's finest.
