Having a Blank Login screen

i would like to hear peoples ideas on having a black login screen...

basically meaning when you open secondlife and get the loginscreen no screenname or anything being filled in for you or at least an option to not have it show up.

i have several family members who use the computer and some don't need to see what my login name is. and i dont need to see theirs either.

so id propose to have it so when you log out the name ares goes black that way the next player can open second life and enter their name from scratch. not have to delete the name of the last user.

now of course there can be an option to " remember last name " or something sorta like the " remember password" option.

any ideas on this? good or bad?

this is now Prop: 3068 ... please vote if you agree :)

thank you

I've long been of this mind. Even though I'm the only one using SL here, I'd still appreciate the extra privacy this would afford. Erm, provided updating to include this feature wouldn't break something else. :P

Return to login

This is a good idea, but as an adjunct to it, I would like to have a control to "Exit to login" option rather than just "Exit" which quits the client. Among other things, someone with more than one avatar could switch and log in without quitting Sl altogether and having to restart the client to log in again. Has this ever been proposed? Or am I missing something in the control panels? (This from a Mac user, BTW)

You can accomplish the goal of hiding the last avatar named used by editing the properties of the shortcut you use to start SL.

To the target field, add the following:

-set FirstName first -set LastName last

It would look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -settings settings.xml -set FirstName first -set LastName last

This will cause the first and last names on the login screen to display "first" and "last" instead of the name of the avatar that last ran SL.

i will look into that change on my computer when i get home ....
but that being said it should still just be a default setting or at least have an option you just click on for it to be default.
not everyone is computer savvy in this way and its a pain in the butt to try and find someone who knows how to do it and to explain it.
i know i tried for about a week and no one had any idea how i could accomplish it. so i still think it should be added in on the main program.

Vote for this!!! please? :)

and i agree with you charles
it should be easy to log off to log back in as another user lots of online games are this way why cant SL be that way?
like i said in the maim post i have other people in the house that use the SL and it would be nice not to have to completly shut down SL just to change users

I'm with this too, but mentions of viewer upgrade has spurred a thought:
At the moment (not upgraded just yet) all preferences are standard across logins. Now whilst things like performance tweakers are necessarily the same, some of the other preferences should be unique to the individual, e.g. do all family members want to show their group tag?

My premium acc likes to login at home position. My 'basic 'alt with no home would like to go to last place. I don't always remember to change the drop-down start position.

It would be nice if each account holders preferences were remembered.

Yup I agree..
i want my login blank as its a shared comp. and I dont want everyone who uses it to be able to know my name.
I may not want them to be able to find me Or even look for me in SL....
Part of My sl enjoyment is the "get totally away from reality part.."

I would like a login option where all I do is click on the second life icon and then I'm seeing my avatar in world.
