Hey folks. I am wondering if anyone knows how to either get rid of..or script away the name/group bubble over your av's head. I use alot..and I mean alot of animal/robot/etc av's and I travel to scenic sims and would like to be able to blend into the scenery without my name floating over my head. I mainly use a beautiful crow av that makes caw sounds and such and I tend to perch near trees and stuff. Unfortunately, as people walk near I usually caw and people find me interesting for a moment, but then realize I am an av and the onslaught of questions start "Where'd you get that?" "How'd U do that" etc etc.
I dont want to take away from the scenery, I want to be part of it sometimes. Thanks for any ideas you guys might have. I know it is possible to do as I have seen it done, but I always forget to ask the person how they did it.

there is no way to do what you are wanting to do. you can disable the name/group display as a local option, but you cannot affect what other people will see on their client.

oh, i thot he just wanted the group name gone.
to disable all the bubbles (from only YOUR perspective)
edit preferences general click hide my avatar names click show avatar names never
that should do it.
i think when you see others with no name, while some others do show around you.... i think that's just a glitch. i wish we had the option tho.

Thank you for your responses. However it is possible to do as I have seen it done on other Av's. 1 person specifically told me they had done it and I could see no name above thier head, however they ended up having to leave before I could really discuss with them how they did it. So there must be a way. And I mean to do it so other people can not see my name. I know how to turn it off on the local client. Thank you again.

If it can be done, LL would probably consider it a bug - being able to hide your name would be too much fun for griefers.

you can always hover your mouse over them to get their name.
(if they'll hold still long enough)

From: 3Ring Binder you can always hover your mouse over them to get their name.
(if they'll hold still long enough) quicker than a hover is a right-click ... then you have a 'send im' heh heh

And if they have a tiny avatar that's mostly invisible?

Probably if the avatar is a non-Human thing made of prims, like a bird, their real avatar is somewhere nearby, and is flying a remote drone made of prims. They may even be using one of the combat AO/s that offsets the real avatar a great distance from the remote - even places them under ground.
