Guess this is my farewell post.

I've avoided this place since LL announced its demise and confess to being surprised at how painful it is to be here, writing this.

/me sighs.

Be well, folks. I hope to run into you all again and, if I've got a biggie avatar on, possibly run over you too.

Thanks for fighting the good fight as you did, everywhere you could, tirelessly and filled with common sense. Certainly can't say you didn't try to stop the madness. I"ve enjoyed you here on these forums, and hope to see you inworld, or other online venues. Take care, Meade.

I'll miss your common sense also, Meade. You've helped a lot of people on this Forum, and it's very sad to see it go.

Goodspeed, little hedgehog, I hope we run ito each other again.

Best of luck, Meade. We didn't converse much, if at all, but I always liked your posts when I read them.

Oh, you can be sure about LLs talent to bring up major surprises and changes which are causing "red alarm" to nearly all halfway awake customers (like every year) and this results regularly in building a foam or a cloud or a wall made of/by former decentralized operating avatars.

Good luck until then when all people coming together again at the one or the other place to analyse and discuss the things.

Since the forum here is closing, I wanted to come in one last time, and say:

I did value, even treasure my time with each of you who post here regularly. What a treasure trove of intelligent, funny, loyal, and supportive people.

Despite the fact that one meanie with sharp claws drove me away, each of you meant something to me and I thought about each of you from time to time in the space after.

So here's a glass of bubbly (apple cider if you prefer) to the forums and most importantly to the forumITES.

As another web master said somewhere else, "It's a foundation, not a location."

Here's to all.

Goodbye, Meade. I don't think we crossed paths much and I think that is my loss. It's safe to run up to me anytime. I'm small enough not to trample you.

@Clarissa. Thank you for your various kind remarks. You made my day a few times and probably never knew it. Here's to you to too. Here's to new beginnings.

[whew! We have to read all these threads to be sure of catching everyone.]

Good to see you again, Clarissa!

Bye, Meade. You chose the ideal mix of cute and prickly for your main avatar here :)

Thanks for pitching in to save the forums, too bad we lost!

When I was about 10 or so I flipped on the TV one Saturday and landed on one of those badly dubbed Chinese Kung Fu movies my brothers liked.

I don't remember most of it, beyond it being the usual bad school is wiping out good school and heroes are trying to stop them.

But the ending... kind of stuck with me, and reminds me of a lot of whats going on here.

The good school's leaders were dead, everyone was mostly dead, already dead, or dying. The two leading males where still up, barely. They'd just taken out most of the bad guys, and taken obviously mortal wounds.

Suddenly the door to the place bursts open and some 20-50 bad guys rush in and give the usual shout and dramatic pause. The heroes glance at each other, put up their fists... and give their best Bruce Lee shout as they leap into the pile of bad guys - everything stops, and the credits roll...

Kind of feels like that in here right now.

Sounds like a ripoff of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid to me.

Probably the other way around since that movie's from 1969, and I'm pretty sure this flick was older.

But one scene doesn't make a rip-off. Never seen Butch Cassidy, but sounds like a cowboy flick. A quick google shows a movie which seems very different.

Oh! You really should! I hate "cowboy flicks," but this is a very good, and very very funny one, even if maybe a bit dated.

My only real complaint about it is that it features that squirm-making song, "Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head." Ugh.

Even in context of that scene, the song makes no sense in that movie.

Yeah. An early-ish instance, I suppose, of using a movie as a vehicle for something else?
