Yes, the title sounds like a Frank Zappa album, but it's true - I have 47 Lost & Found folders in my inventory.

AKIKO'S DIARY

WEDNESDAY MARCH 7 2007
We had an update today. I logged in around 8:30 PM GMT. I bought myself a nice pair of boots and then decided I would get some hair ribbons to match, so I hopped over to one of the Japanese sims where I had seen some. Finding my hair, boots and belt firmly lodged up my backside, I decided to relog - like you do.

When I rezzed, I went to buy the ribbons, but decided to create a folder for them first - you have to keep that inventory tidy you know. BUT .....! Where was my inventory? Totally blank! It seemed that all I possessed were the clothes and hair I was standing in. Then I saw that my bank balance was ZERO! Immediately, there was a message from Blue Linden saying the problem was being looked into. Phew! Big sigh of relief!

So I logged out for a while.

When I logged back in, my inventory was there again - along with my money. But I noticed that I had more than one Lost & Found folder - 47 of them to be exact. One contained the pose stand I'd used to adjust the boots I had bought earlier. Some were empty. Some contained a single Gesture - yes, my Gestures folder had somehow been emptied.

Restored alll the Gestures to the correct folders, but those Lost & Found folders are still there. They are Linden folders and can't be deleted. I tried a help request. First response was, "Current problems are being dealt with." OK - they'll sort it out.

THURSDAY MARCH 8 2007.
I still have 47 Lost & Found folders. This is starting to bug me now. The pedantic part of my brain is telling me that I only need one Lost & Found folder and as soon as something ever turns up in Lost & Found it goes straight back where it belongs. One is good. Two is mildly amusing. Five is getting tedious. 47 is plain bloody stupid and it's annoying the hell out of me. Time to try another Help Request.

"Hi Akiko, that needs reporting as a Bug Report."

OK, I sent the bug report along with a picture of my inventory open showing nothing but Lost & Found folders. They'll sort this out now for sure, won't they?

FRIDAY MARCH 9 2007
I *STILL* have 47 Lost & Found folders in my inventory! Decided to check my emails to see if there is some response from LL. Oh joy! There is! Oh ... they don't respond to bug reports! Erm ... why have a bug report if you have no intention of responding to it?

I wonder if there is anyone who knows how to fix this? I know ... I'll try the Resident Forums.

So ... CAN anyone help me please?

Pretty please?

Bug reports are not customer service requests. They are reports that provide information for the programmers. I've filed bug reports and remember that it was clearly stated that I would not get a reply. That's fine by me -- I'd rather they spend their time working on a bug fix rather than replying to email.

Besides, there's no response to a bug report other than "wait until the bug is found and fixed". So what good is a reply?

Customer service is a request for immediate action -- it should be taken through different channels. Whether or not you GET any customer service, well, that's another issue. Sigh.

Akiko,

The next time you TP and end up with a boot in the butt, just detach it and wear it again...it will reset.

I know this from many experiences of "boot in butt" syndrome.

Me too, I have found my hair there many a time. My friends always tell me it is on my head. I don't believe them though, I think they are just having a good laugh at my expense.

'Attachment ass' as i call it seems to be client side, ie only you see it, everyone see you as normal. As for reattaching, thats fine, assuming you only have one attachment, its usually much easiedr to just relog
